Top South East England Hotel Reviews
Holiday Inn Portsmouth by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"The staff were very polite and helpful."
De Vere Wokefield Estate
8/10 Good
"The first room was like a furnace, as light was beaming in and no air con. We asked to change and to their credit they found us a better room however it was still hot. The hotel chain needs to update to air con in all their places. It’s a must nowadays , we cldnt sleep. The De vere group prides itself on quality and beauty but its letting itself down by not keeping up to date with clients needs to actually sleep in a comfortable sleeping environment"

"We went for the airbourne weekend and the room we booked was extremely comfortable. It was a superior room and had a view over the beach and the sea. Perfect for watching the aeroplanes if we got fed up with the crowds on the beach. The room was very clean on arrival and all the staff we spoke to were extremely helpful. The breakfast is a normal buffet affair and totally acceptable. There are plenty of superb eateries within walking distance as well with cuisines from around the world. The hotel itself is I assume pretty old and as most hotels could do with a little tlc in some respects. Only one of the 2 lifts were working for our entire stay ( the tiniest lift I have ever seen) but I'm sure this will be fixed reasonably soon. So we used the stairs to come down from level 3 and the lift to go up as we aren't very fit. Also be aware that there are no fridges in the room which on a very hot summer stay is a bit of a problem but any other time of year would not be a problem at all. We had temperatures of 30+ degrees for 4 days and survived with a cool box and ice from the local shops. Overall I would recommend a stay here if you want a beachfront hotel. This was our 2nd stay so it must be ok. There is hotel parking out the back which is very busy during the airshow weekend but at £6 a day it's a bargain in these expensive times. It's probably less busy the rest of the year but I'm only guessing. If you like a beach and the pier holiday then you'll like this hotel."
Hotel La Tour

"We had a problem with a group of guests smoking heavily in their rooms and it was disgusting, but the team moved us very quickly and no problems after that"

Cotswolds Hotel & Spa

"The hotel and staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean although a little dated in areas. It was lovely to have a balcony to sit on in the evening. Would visit and stay again"

Grand Burstin Hotel Folkestone
8/10 Good
"Pros: The room was very clean and had all the bits and bobs you need ( hair dryer, fan, iron, tea making stuff, tv and a fridge). The hotel also provided a travel cot for our baby. The room had a great sea view. The hotel it self is interesting, a bit run down and rough round the edges. There was live entertainment in the “ballroom” every night, which was cringy in an amusing way. The location is excellent. The room price was very reasonable (mid week). It is a budget hotel not a luxury one. Negatives: the front desk is very understaffed, we wanted to extend our stay and had to queue at reception, only to then be told we had to book via a phone attached to the wall. When we used the phone we were quoted £10 more than hotels.com. We then had to queue for another 20mins to get new key cards. There was only 1 receptionist for a hotel with hundreds of rooms. The pool was pleasant enough but you have to pay £4 each every single time you use it (even as a paying guest at the hotel). I think that’s a bit cheeky and I’ve never experienced that in a hotel before. They could at least add a single charge to your room for a pool pass instead. We didn’t have breakfast as I thought it was a little over priced. Over all we enjoyed staying there and will definitely be returning."
