"We enjoyed our stay here! The beach was within an easy, short walking distance and very beautiful! The rip current can be very strong, so we found a nice, mostly calm pocket of water between reefs, down the beach, to swim in for a couple of days-- really pleasant! Plus, they gave us beach towels at the desk. The staff were friendly, helpful and someone was always available. They provided dry towels everyday, since nothing dries for days. The rooms have a lot of screens so the sounds of the jungle come in, including howler monkeys! You can hear your neighbors as well as the rainforest, but the other guests were usually fairly quiet by 9 pm. "

"We stayed 3 nights. We liked that it was directly in front of beach. Nice free breakfast. Salt water pool was so nice. The staff were great. They always checked in to ensure guests were happy and had what they needed. My bad for not thinking that it is in the jungle. We saw a snake at the pool (little and not a threat), resident howler monkeys woke us at 5 am every morning (again part of nature) and sloths!! Dining options around hotel are limited however you can take a tuktuk into puerto Viejo for more dining options. "

"We loved it here, it was so immersed in nature we saw more wildlife on site here than what we saw in Cahuita NP!! Gartered and Slaty-tailed trogons, keel-billed and yellow-throated toucans, loads of great green macaws (especially on the almond trees at the beach), loads of tanagers, thrushes and flycatchers, antbirds, blue crabs, agoutis... the room is very nice and the bed was super comfortable. Lots of places to put clothes and bags, a huge hot shower. And a short walk to a private section of beach with included beach beds. Its also private and secure, with a coded car gate and allocated parking in front of all the studios. We definitely recommend this place!"

"The staff was excellent. Diego was very friendly and gave us great recommendations for excursions and restaurants. He went above and beyond and is an asset to Le Cameleon. David was also very friendly and full of good advice. Also Brady and Cindy. The gardens all around were beautiful. The restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend Le Cameleon if you’re heading to Puerto Viejo. "

Personable and authentic staff; sleep in the jungle and get to view everything (sloths, monkeys, etc) others pay guides to see; footsteps from a stunning beach, this is a truly an all in one Costa Rica experience. But as the website notes, this is for those that want a more raw experience, so don’t expect the hottest showers or finest linens. But you are very well taken care of and staff are very responsive. They’ll provide the inside scoop on trusted contacts for excursions. If you want to help support local, book now. Andrea prepares a home cooked breakfast each morning with locally sourced food items (cacao, eggs, coffee even the peanut butter is from local farmers) and has all the connections you could need for building a holiday you’ll never forget. "This place is AMAZING! You will feel as though you’re in the middle of the jungle even though civilization is nearby. The private beach is beautiful, you can fall asleep to the sound of the waves crashing. There’s so much nature and animals to see all around, you’ll wake up to the sound of so many birds beautifully singing at you. It’s like out of a movie. The hot tub at the beach house is a phenomenal amenity and the staff is so friendly. This is our second time staying here and God willing next time we’re in the area we’ll stay here again. "
