"Nice hotel and location just of A12 so easy for onward travel. Nice rooms clean and comfortable and a reasonable selection of evening food. The Breakfast is good too. I’ll certainly be staying there again next time around and would definitely recommend."
"The let down were breakfast where things you come to expect to be available such as cereals, fruit juices, jams, and fruit we not available except as an additional cost. When I collected my bill, I saw that a glass of orange juice at breakfast juice £11.
The other disappointment was the Spa which cost £70 per couple if you use it.
In all hotels I have stayed in, both the above facilities were available to Guests as standard, NEVER as an additional cost.. This is particularly surprising given this is a high-end hotel.
Even though we loved the place: service, staff, cleanliness, location and surroundings, it is not somewhere we will go back to for the reasons given above, which is quite disappointing.

"The hotel is bang in the middle of town and the staff are friendly, the shower is good but could use more pressure and the bed is comfy. The breakfast was the best breakfast i have had at a hotel. The Air con system has no effect on the temperature of the room and the window in our room was broken. The hotel is also over the road from a night club and is very noisy till 2am and then at 6am the bin men start up at outside. this is not the hotels fault but if you want a good night's sleep you won't find it here. "Wivenhoe House Hotel was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. Set in beautiful parkland, the hotel perfectly blends historic charm with modern luxury, creating an atmosphere that feels both elegant and welcoming.
From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. Every member of staff went out of their way to make me feel looked after, without ever being intrusive.
Dinner in the restaurant was a real highlight. The menu was beautifully curated, showcasing seasonal ingredients and creative flair. Each course was expertly presented and full of flavour—clearly the work of a talented kitchen. The ambience in the dining room added to the experience, striking just the right balance between relaxed and refined.
Breakfast the following morning was equally impressive. There was a generous selection to choose from, with both continental options and perfectly cooked hot dishes. Everything was fresh, high quality, and served with the same attentive care we experienced the night before.
The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean, with lovely views of the surrounding grounds—making it very easy to unwind and enjoy the peaceful setting.

"Booking in was made difficult by the staff members poor communication skills. We contacted the hotel a few weeks prior to our stay date to inform them we would be checking in around 7pm. On arrival the room was extremely hot, the radiators were off so we opened the curtains and windows fully and turned on to max the supplied fan (no Aircon), whilst we went out to eat locally in Ipswich. On our return to the room a few hrs later the temperature was unbearably hot, despite the aforementioned steps we had taken to try and cool the room down. We went to bed and attempted to sleep, and so began the worst night sleep either of us have ever experienced, the heat did not subside...the only saving grace was that we were in the room and hour less than we would have been normally due to the clocks going forward for spring daylight saving. Breakfast was acceptable but again made awkward due to a different staff members odd communication. Communication on checkout was minimal which tbh suited both of us at this point, we were not asked how our stay had been. We will not be staying here again."
"Room was amazing! Great size, very comfortable bed and being at the back of the hotel meant it was quiet! Shower was excellent
Breakfast was freshly cooked and superb!
Nothing to fault

"Gaining entry and checking in eas was more complicated than it needed to be. The walls in my bedroom were paper thin and I could here absolutely every thing from the room next door, the squeak in the mattress everyone the occupant turned over, the headboard banging against the wall, every movement that was made. To top it off I was looking forward to eating in the property only to discover that the chef had gone AWOL. The best thing about my stay was I was only there for 1 night"
