"This was one of the most incredible experiences we had in Japan. The staff and service level are extraordinary. The 8 or 10 course meals at dinner and breakfast were an unbelievable experience. "Amazing stay - couldn’t recommend more. The staff are incredibly attentive and helpful, the hotel is set in a beautiful location and the entire experience is flawless. The food is excellent as well, although it’s worth noting that both the dinner and breakfast are very generous meals - best not to eat too much beforehand! "This hotel was very nice. The room was clean and spacious and the breakfast buffet is excellent. What impressed me most was the customer service. I left something in my room after checking out and didn’t realize it until the next day. I contacted the hotel through the Hotels.com messaging feature and the staff were so responsive and went above and beyond to coordinate getting this delivered to my next hotel. I did not expect the hotel to respond so quickly and to go as far as to coordinate with the next hotel to ensure my item was returned to me. I am thoroughly impressed with the staff here. I would definitely stay here again."

"This was probably the best hotel I stayed at during my Japan trip! The location was excellent — an easy walk to the morning markets, old town, restaurants, and everything I wanted to see in Takayama. The room was very comfortable, especially the large bed, and I loved having a washer/dryer combo machine right in the room. After traveling and walking so much every day, it was incredibly convenient and worked surprisingly well. One of my favorite touches was the relaxing foot bath area, which was perfect after long sightseeing days. The onsen was also wonderful and made the stay even more special. I also enjoyed the hotel dinner buffet. There was plenty of food, lots of variety, and everything was tasty and well worth the price. Overall, this hotel had all the comfort, convenience, and amenities I could ask for. I would absolutely stay here again when visiting Takayama!"

"The rooms were lovely. Unfortunately the toiletries are not in the room only in the onsen which I didn’t find ideal. The garbages in the rooms are really tiny and I’m all for sustainability but this doesn’t really make a lot of sense when you’re catering to travellers in a City that doesn’t provide garbage facilities leaving them no choice but to bring it back to their hotels. Overall, this is a beautiful hotel with really wonderful staff. I just wanted to point out a couple things that could use tweaking. "
