Hotels near Shell Lake

"The hotel’s main areas were nice. However, I was shocked at how run down the rooms were for the price we paid. Our main issue was being woken up about every 45 minutes to hotel guests talking in the halls and opening/shutting their doors. It finally quieted down around 3:30 am. I understand the hotel cannot make guests have respect for others, but the lack of insulation to keep the noise down was terrible. It sounds as if you left your door wide open to hear everything going on in the hall. Not only that but the doors themselves are LOUD! You can hear every time someone in your hall opens or shuts their door. Again, to the point it wakes everyone up. For paying over $300 a night, I would have hoped I could have gotten to actually sleep for the night. "

" Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The room and common areas were clean and well maintained. A couple of things to point out, I stayed two nights and had no housekeeping services. Not sure if that is how they schedule cleaning or an over sight. Also, I had a refrigerator, microwave and ice bucket but no glasses to put the ice and drink into. I had coffee cups but no water glasses. Service with the valet a bit spotty."

"They are in the process of remodeling. We stayed in a room that looked remodeled. But the toilet paper holder was falling out of the wall. The shower curtain was barely touching the tub, so it kept falling outside the tub during a shower. The shower controls were flopping around. The water temperature was all over the place, without touching the handle. They did make the beds, but didn’t switch out the towels. The elevator didn’t work and we were on the 3rd floor. Trash in the stairwell that was there all weekend. Swimming pool was still covered. But we had to pay full price. Breakfast was very good. Stuff was very polite. "

"Did not like that we could not close drapes because they would hang over a/c. The curtain rods would not permit it. Short drapes with different rods would solve that. Low toilet not good for us senior citizens. Breakfast was good! "

"Very rustic feel, would be a great location for a retreat. Pool looked beautiful, even though we didn't use it. Only complaint was the rooms don't have individual heat/ac controls... you have to call the front desk to change temperature. When we arrived, the window was open, and even though we closed it, the room was cold all night."
