"This hotel is crying out for a good interior designer. With such a handsome exterior and storied history it’s such a shame the interior is a disjointed mishmash of (mostly tacky) styles. The room decor can best be described as 50 shades of blah, reminiscent of a prison cell, leaving this guest wondering what my crime was. And other than a few photos of the glory days of yesteryear in the lobby, there is a distinct lack of artwork on the walls. The staff work hard to accommodate requests, yet somehow the overall impression is that no one cares about this potentially lovely hotel. What a pity."

"This was a lovely little stopover. Clean, spacious room, pretty gardens, very friendly staff and easy check in process. Taxi into town cost under £6. Lovely breakfast too! "

"Convenient location and comfortable and well appointed room - perfect for our one night stay in Oamaru. Easy parking and ground floor room made access very easy. Would not hesitate to recommend to other travellers. We didn’t use the on site restaurant or bar facilities so can’t comment on that."

"ok stay overnight . had 2 bed upstairs apartment which served its purpose although if 2 couples 1 sleeps in lounge as 2nd bedroom is bunks . walkable into town . "
