Two Rivers, Chepstow by Marston’s Inns
10/10 Excellent
"The staff was excellent and very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and the food was really good. "

Delta Hotels by Marriott St. Pierre Country Club
6/10 Okay
"I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions over the last year and found it to be very comfortable, peaceful, scenic, with lovely staff and good food and also a conveniently close distance to the M4. Generally the accommodation is of a high standard of cleanliness and comfort.
I was disappointed on my last visit however, to find that my booked suite had been 'upgraded'. The upgrade was underwhelming, being a single room with a balcony overlooking the lake. Whilst the room was adequate and view nice, this wasn't really an 'upgrade' compared to the suite (which are very well appointed and comfortable) also the balcony appeared to be in some state of disrepair and a bit rickety. I made a complaint on check out that I didn't feel the upgrade was value for money compared to the suite but sadly this does not appear to have been followed up on as I have heard nothing back which is very disappointing."

Days Inn by Wyndham Magor

"Parking was easy and in front of the hotel, which is in the service area of the motorway. "

"Upon arrival just after 4pm, I was given Room 24 which was on the ground floor, directly adjacent to the dining area without soundproofing but an open doorway.
Also in the adjacent rooms were numerous foreign (migrant?) families with children running up and down the short corridor, and plenty of door knocking and chatting loudly in the corridor.
I complained to the reception staff (man instead of the young lady who checked me in), he apologised and moved me to another room on 2nd floor, plus gave a free drink voucher by way of apology, as it wasn’t the last room in the hotel. Odd it was given out in the first place.
The second room has aircon that won’t switch off, unless you remove the room key so all electrics go out. I read this in other reviews so knew about it in advance of booking.
In my second floor room, the sink was blocked and management must have known about it, as the sink plug (revolving disc) was missing. There was one in the ground floor room.
The beds themselves are super comfortable, probably one of the best I’ve ever slept on, although some people may find them a little too high up off the ground.
The surrounding area (over an Easter weekend) was a bit desolate. The road and surrounding land has much subsistence, with roadworks and single lane traffic lights which aren’t too much of an issue. There is a Subway but I never saw it open. There isn’t much else to look at, just a building site next to the hotel.
I wouldn’t stay there again."

The Beaufort Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"Firstly fantastic staff. Nothing too much trouble.
Lovely well stocked bar area.
Fabulous breakfast.
Very clean.
Free parking to the rear of the property.
Central location.
We stayed as we were attending a wedding so didn’t really explore much but what we saw was very nice.
Bedrooms were basic but this was obviously reflected in the price. Teas and coffee were well stocked in the room and had a good variety.
Larger towels would have been appreciated. On the whole fantastic stay and for the reasonable price it was good. "

"Good location "

New Inn Hotel by Greene King Inns
8/10 Good
"Plenty of parking but watch out for huge pothle to the side and at front.
Rooms spacious, bed comfortable, clean bedding.Heated with radiator.
Big tv screen ,normal channels.
Breakfast delicious and plentiful ,freshly cooked. Also choice of pastries and cereals
Didnt like coffee from a flask though.
Ive stayed here many times, its convenient for me visiting family. The staff are really lovely and so friendly and helpful. No complaints there.
Great having a Hungry horse restaurant attached to hotel.
However come on Green King ,this place is looking tired.A few new furnishings and shower curtains would do wonders and not cost the earth.
Shower curtain was extremly grubby, didnt want it anywhere near me!
Chair was stained with "something!"
Didnt want to sit on it.
And a large crack in the smoke detector.
The cleaning staff do a wonderful job and this is not a reflection on how hard they work."

Castle View Hotel
4/10 Poor
"Sadly this property needs huge investment. The whole place is really tired. There was no on there to welcome us and they hadn’t sent us the door code so I had to phone twice before someone would pick up and then had to wait for the owner to arrive to let us in, not ideal after a long journey. We had a garden room - which had thread bare carpets with stains on, the most uncomfortable bed imaginable and it just felt dirty. I thought from the pictures this place looked ok, but I was very wrong indeed. They really need to invest as it could be lovely - it’s a great location. "
