"This is a hidden gem of a hotel. It’s an amazing value with a large comfortable sized room (even by American standards), a gorgeous view of the mountains, kitchenette, spa bathroom, and housekeeping every 3 days, which usually you don’t get at apartment hotels. The free amenities are actually better than at some mid-tier hotels. Most of all, the staff are absolutely wonderful with their service and the lengths they go to for the guests. They were so personable and flexible with anything I requested. The only reason I can think of that this hotel isn’t more well-known is because it faces a small inside street, which makes road noise non-existent! But the location is still very convenient and close to a major subway stop. I hope the next time I want to stay here, there’s still availability! "

"Hotel The Mitsui was a phenomenal hotel. The amenties, design, and cleanliness were truly standout. The private onsen was lovely. The attentiveness and knowledge of the hotel staff really is top notch. The Japanese style breakfast was beautifully presented. This is one of the best urban hotels I’ve ever stayed in Japan or Europe. I will definitely be returning when I come back to Kyoto. I highly recommend this hotel. "

"Hotel was very clean and modern, great soaps and lotions in the room. Very close to the Castle, a very short walk. not a lot of dinner options in the area, but a 7-11 across the street. A bit far from the center of the action"
