"Our arrival was very welcoming and check in was quick and smooth. The pool area was nice and inviting. Our room was very tired, no hot water and I didn’t want to sit on the couch. It looked very dindgy. The bed was ok but No Hot Water at all. Bathroom Very old. This property needs a major renovation. Breakfast servers were great. Food was ok. Dinner was very good. We had the Italian restaurant. More great service. 👍. This trip served our purpose as we had to fly back home and was a quick drive to the airport. Thanks again. K & R"

"Very nice property with pretty foliage and landscaping. Some room decor and parts can use updating but nice, spacious and clean. Restaurant was great with many healthy options especially breakfast buffet. Amenities offer spa, gym, pool and casino. Executive lounge was an great addition. All staff were amazing. With complementary shuttle service, what more do you need. Store and other eating options walkable and nearby. Not walkable too much else I don’t believe. Will return."

"From the moment we arrived, this hotel felt like paradise. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and so well maintained, the views were breathtaking, and every meal we had was delicious. The staff made the entire experience even better with their kindness and hospitality. Waking up each morning to such an amazing view was something we’ll never forget. We truly loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to come back!"

"Lovely tranquil setting not too far from the airport but away from the city bustle. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the staff kind and helpful. The property has a lovely garden with a small trail. The central areas and dining room feel slightly dated."

"Overall, our stay at Barceló San José was okay. The hotel, rooms, and lobby were clean, and the staff was nice. However, the pool area could use better maintenance since there were a lot of leaves and debris, especially in the kiddie pool. The hotel also feels a bit outdated. Breakfast was just okay — it would be nice to have more variety and international food options for guests from different countries."
