Glorietta Bay Inn Coronado Island

"We had a lovely stay at the Glorietta Bay Inn, on our first (long-anticipated) trip to San Diego. The hotel was once an historic home, and it's still a beautiful place, with bougainvillea and birds of paradise a sharp contrast against the white buildings. The location is perfect for catching summer breezes - right across from the Del, with access to the beach, shopping, restaurants and bars, and easy access to the mainland via ferry. The breakfast is fantastic, plenty of choices and variety each day, and we enjoyed a leisurely al fresco breakfast each day. My mother and grandmother visited this hotel 20 years ago, and it was just as great then as it is today."

"Check in was fast. The room was clean and everything worked. We had a suite right out on the main courtyard and it was very quiet at night. The only thing to improve is the breakfast. Needs bacon and hash browns instead of corned beef hash and green beans."

"While the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful, the facility was a little older. The comforter on our bed was awful. It was so old and washed so many times that the stuffing was pushed to the corners and was rock hard. Certainly, it was replaced with a better one when we asked, I just felt it shouldn't have been there in the first place. The devil is in the details in any hotel and when those details are overlooked or not noticed, it detracts from the experience. This was, in my opinion, a very expensive hotel and I expected better."
