Beautiful, cosy 14th century inn with rooms. Picture postcard perfect and in a great location for walks and a short drive to Tisbury High Street.
Food in the pub was excellent as was choice of drinks.
Plenty of car parking right opposite
Cute cottage, not for anyone mobility challenged. Very hot bedroom, didn't sleep much because of that (need lighter weight duvets), shame as otherwise lovely room & very quiet. Lovely to eat supper overlooking the field of sheep and lambs. Food was average. Pub chairs could be more comfy. Breakfast rather small (a full english was one mushroom, 1 small sausage, 1/2 tomato, scrambled egg & 2 very crispy bits of bacon. Had to request toast. Cold option was lovely but limited, juice, granola, yogurt & compote. Nice walks to be had from the door (we enjoyed the river walk through fields to a church, starting virtually opposite the pub).
It's a beautiful pub, the staff are exceptional. Food was delicious and well presented. The accommodation was warm and cosy, super clean and comfortable. I cannot rate our stay enough and would most certainly go back.
This is a beautiful little inn!
Gorgeous property with outdoor seating and a charming pub.
The food was outstanding! Cod fish cakes with shrimp masala sauce were a treat!
Comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast.
Bedroom noisy when pub is full.
Bathroom was basic with bath and shower hose.
Alternative bathrooms are available.
Pretty location. Front could do with being tidier.
The compasses Inn was a very well organised friendly and relaxing place to stay. It was easy to find using Google maps from the app (which is saying something!) Good parking, although this can get busy with the pub and restaurant in the evenings, however we always found a space, getting back before 7 in the evening or after 9!
Extremely quiet considering the Pub is below - we heard nothing! Dog friendly which was a bonus, with a long walk over the fields opposite if needed for the dog. (Dog poo bin in the car park!) Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The facilities were super, great shower etc. Very comfortable bed and large pillows. Food was delicious, great breakfast and very reasonable price! Selection of local brews in the pub. The roads either way to the Inn are single track, with some passing spots, mostly other peoples drives. Further up the village there was a tractor and large trailer blocking the road as a local house (probably a new purchase from outside of the area) was having a huge amount of earth excavated, so no way past which meant reversing, turning around and a couple of miles detour the other way around. We also had to back up to allow other people to pass, as despite their being yards past a passing spot, people don't seem to be either able or willing to back up anymore (so I can only assume they were holiday makers also!) This of course is nothing to do with Compasses Inn, which we loved and would visit again without a second thought!
Charmigt boende på en pub med excellent mat och god öl.
Härlig omgivningen på landet samtidigt nära till alla sevärdheter i området.
Rummen är underbart inredda och man möts av the och småkakor.
Allt var helt fantastiskt!
We had a lovely stay, beautiful setting, stylish accommodation, great food,The staff were all friendly and attentive.
Minor complaints would be a very squeaky bed and rather odd pillows. Similar to meringue looked full and puffy but went completely flat!
A delightful small country inn with very pleasant rooms and en suite facilities. Despite a hard frost overnight we were very warm . The bed linen was exceptionally clean and crisp. We enjoyed an excellent meal ….interesting and varied menu and the food was well cooked and presented. Nothing was too much for the staff who were very helpful and efficient . We would definitely visit again
We loved the quiet. the beauty. the history. the amenities....our only regret is that we didn't have a longer stay. We highly recommend The Compasses Inn
The food was outstanding! The room was comfortable and it was just quiet and lovely! Fresh cookies and milk in the room nice touch. I’d recommend and return in a heartbeat!
Lovely welcome by friendly staff who looked after us even though they were very busy as it was the England match.
Great evening meal and the breakfast was excellent. Nicely designed room and en suite which matched high end fittings and furniture with 14th century charm. We will defiantly return.
Room was fresh and clean. Fresh milk and homemade biscuits were left with the tea and coffee which was lovely. Great bathroom with good pressure in the shower. Very good quality soap, shampoo and conditioner. No noise from the pub downstairs which is where you have breakfast. Plenty to eat at breakfast and superb quality ingredients. We also ate at the pub in the evening which was fantastic. Staff were friendly and attentive. Couple of tiny negatives: no wardrobe in room but provided with a clothes rail which was a bit too low, my long dresses and trousers ended up scrunched on the floor at the bottom. The breakfast was really good but it would have been nice to have more vegetarian options (baked beans, veggie sausages maybe?). I would definitely recommend this b&b and would definitely return.
Would highly recommend the Compasses inn even if it seems a little out of the way! The owner is awesome, we stayed in the separate cottage and it would have been lovely to stay more than one night! Well appointed and the food in the pub is excellent. I’d love to return one day!
Danke.
This Inn was amazing! The beds were comfortable and it was well decorated and the bathroom has been fully updated. The area was so peaceful and quiet. You had to drive up a one lane hedgerow to get there, which I loved :) Food wad amazing and all staff we encountered were helpful and very friendly. Definitely would like to stay here again.
