"Fern Grotto Inn was perfect for us! We felt like we stepped back in time away from the hustle and glitz of modernity while providing all the comforts and supplies we could want. We chose this place because of the kayaks/river, and it was a highlight of the trip! Full size fully stocked washer and dryer, snorkel masks, beach chairs, well-equipped kitchen, dreamy mangos right off the tree, friendly staff. The east side location provided easy access for a day on the north shore or heading south to Waimea canyon. Walked to Lydgate Park to watch the sunrise every morning. We would absolutely stay here again! "

"The Hilton Hawaiian Garden is perfect for anyone going. Perfectly central and the most beautiful walking path along the ocean. The staff amazing, friendly, and accommodating. The Tiki Bar, delicious, upbeat, and a great place to have a cocktail and watch the sunset. Two pools and a great place for families."

"Room is outdated, moldy and must. Had an unbearable smell. Carpet is old and dirty. Bed is uncomfortable. Found a roach in the bathroom. Ceiling stucco falling off. Continental Breakfast without coffee or tea. Had to switch rooms but was also in same condition."

"not a good check in experience, very stressful and confusing. You will not get individualized help. This is a "small" business that does not take the time to help their clients. No follow through on their side. And you will get response that sounds like they did not read your message at all. The front desk at this place is not associated with who ever is renting the spaces out so they can't help either."

"Best stay we had on any of the islands. Staff is outstanding, and the location is first rate. Walking distance to shops and restaurants and the views are incredible. Beach toys and bikes to use along with tasty banana bread. Would definitely stay here again."

"Lovely staff and lovely location, some of the outdoor fixtures and furniture were a bit worn, and the TV was near impossible to use, but overall had a good time. My only reason for dropping down 2 stars is because the first room we were assigned to, still had people checked in. Thank goodness they were not in the room when we entered!! The second reason is because we had a 'Do Not Disturb' sign hanging off our door, but someone (assuming housekeeping) came in and promptly left. We were checking out that day, but it was still 1.5 hours before checkout time. You'd think you'd want to knock just to be sure the guests have left for privacy purposes. Another hiccup was that guests are given a parking pass. The individual checking us in forgot, and I had to go back and ask (this was my third time at the counter in under 15-20min). First was to check in, the second to notify them that the room was in use (and promptly received the new one), and the third was to ask for the parking pass (after they asked me on the second visit if I had one, and said they'd give me one). I am not upset by the interaction and oversight whatsoever and had a great time! But I still feel these things should be mentioned so folks can make their own informed decision. Oh! I also didn't see any elevators. Had to take luggage up 3 flights of stairs to our room, got my much needed workout in after all the yummy food. But I may have just missed them. I would double check and call if this is important to you :)"
