"I loved that the hotel is the oldest on the island, being the first one built in 1852. The property is well maintained - clean and manicured. - Very scenic from the rocking chairs on the porch where it overlooks the water and light house. The bar was very nice and lively, especially during happy hour and the happy hour menu is a true value for something light. The front desk, bar and porters we encountered were very, very nice. The next morning for breakfast was a totally different story. The staff made us feel we were imposing. Eggs benedict was cold (as cold as the reception we got there from staff) and definitely NOT worth the money, even with the voucher given to us at the front desk upon check in. The hotel was a nice brisk walk to Shepler's Ferry. The hotel porters make sure your luggage is waiting at Shepler's for your convenience - a nice touch. They also ensure your luggage is taken to the hotel from Shepler's so we could enjoy downtown, a carriage tour, shopping & fudge before walking to the hotel for the evening. (the alternative is a horse drawn taxi.) I would stay here again, if ever on the island, as they have an elevator."

"Our first time staying on the Island. The Inn on Mackinaw was great! We arrived on the first ferry and walked to the Inn. They had a place to hold our luggage until our room was ready. They called when the room was ready which was about two hours before check in time. They also offered us continental breakfast even though we had not checked in yet. Room was great with the best view! Sitting on the big wrap around porch listing to horses walking at night was so relaxing. The only thing we could suggest would be to update the furniture in the rooms. Old and not comfy at all. The beds were great! Bathroom was great! Clean Clean Clean! The staff all the way around was first class! We will be back!"

The man at the desk, who may have been the owner, seemed in a rush to get me checked in and without conveying much appreciation for my business. The refrigerator in the room was turned off, and after turning it on I found it made a loud noise every few minutes and turned it off again. The coffee cups are not wrapped, and there was one tiny soap. On the plus side, I got a great price on the room."
