"If you are looking for a pet friendly stay on Mackinac Island don’t go to Mission Point. There are no other places to stay which are pet friendly so you may want to stay off the island. We will NEVER stay at Mission Point again. We paid a premium to stay there with our small dog. AFTER we arrived we were given a form to sign stating we could not leave our dog alone in the room even to go to eat at the restaurant on the grounds or we would be charged an additional $250. Weather being only 40 degrees we were told the back deck outside was pet friendly if we wanted to eat there. The coffee shop in our building was closed. The only other coffee shop or restaurant was about a quarter mile away from our room. The “pet friendly “ building was completely isolated from the main buildings. It is an older building that has a musty smell even though everything appears to be clean. The main restaurants and shop in town are about 15-20 minute walk from the room or a short carriage ride away. Staff was very friendly and we had no complaints with them. Our main complaint is that we had to pay a premium to bring our pet, then we were given a kind of a bait and switch on being able to leave our pet in the room after we arrived so we couldn’t go eat in a restaurant, there was no room service available to get food delivered to our room. If you want to take your pet to the island do not stay at Mission Point. Find a hotel off the island to stay like the Hampton Inn in Saint Ignace."
"Overall, we enjoyed staying at Breaker’s Resort. The view from our room was breathtaking, our room was clean, the breakfast was good, and the staff was friendly. We enjoyed the balcony and the whirlpool. "
"The breakfast was cold items - nothing hot such as eggs, pancakes, waffles, etc . There were cold cereals/toast/ bagels/muffins and fruit(apples/oranges/bananas)"
"Heater in our room only blew cold air. Told the front desk. Could have switched rooms but we had already unloaded everything. But they provided a space heater so we were good. "
"Unbelievable beautiful property. I will say that it is a good 30 minute horse drawn carriage ride from town. Make sure you have what you need with you."
