The check in was easy (I arrived midday), the two staff members were very nice and everything downtown was within walking distance. The room does stay loud until about 3 am, though, so bring ear plugs.

This is a well located hotel in the historical part of Rome. Close to churches, shops, food, grocery stores and walkable to most tourist sites. The staff is friendly and it has a washer/dryer on-site. It is not close to the metro though and being in an older building, the ceiling dripped onto our toilet during our stay.

Convenient location and friendly service

Comfy room, friendly staff with great service, and a terrific location for going pretty much anywhere in Rome. Be aware that there's no elevator and the streets around it are cobbled - I lost a wheel on my suitcase since I couldn't get a taxi out of there. Of course, neither of those things are the hotel's fault, but it's a heads-up for anyone who's bringing a big suitcase/heavy luggage.

This property is so perfectly situated in the center of Rome that literally all the major attractions are within reasonable walking distance. The area is safe and has just about anything one might need near by. Shopping, dining, and of course gelato… The property itself is aged but very well maintained. Everything inside my room worked properly, and the staff was beyond helpful. I stayed alone for 6 nights in a single room and was completely comfortable the entire time I was there. My only complaint is that the shower stall was very small. Even for a relatively small person like myself.

Our stay in Relais Palazzo Taverna left a sour taste in our mouth after what was otherwise a fun time in Rome. This place was in a good location. We had restaurants almost immediately outside, and we had an easy walk to Trastevere, Vatican City, and the Colosseum. First, we were surprised by the lack of staff presence. There’s only staff present from 8:30am to 5pm. Upon checking into Room 101, we noticed our sheet had a bloodstain on it. This sheet wasn’t changed until we explicitly requested it. We also noticed a persistent issue with ants during our stay. Finally, we put our passports into the safe based on the manager’s recommendation. I went to open the safe the night before we were supposed to check out, and the key I was given snapped right in half. We waited until a staffer showed up the next morning since nobody was at the desk at night to ask for a spare. She didn’t have one and seemed hesitant to call her manager. An hour later, we were told there was no spare and they would need to call a locksmith to break the safe open and I would be charged a 300 euro replacement fee. I stressed about potentially paying this fee until the manager showed up with a spare key and popped the safe open. By this point, we had already missed our train out of Rome. I had a great time in my two-week visit to Italy, but I won’t forget the stress that came with staying here with the limited staff availability and fragile safe key.
