"We spent the weekend there. Our first visit. Longtime Blackpool visitors and decided we needed a change from our usual haunt of the past 20 years. A large north shore older hotel but the basement pool facility is now closed. Our 10 years old granddaughter likes a pool. Quite pleased with the Doric. Plus points: Very good & friendly staff & plenty of them. Nice cooked breakfast with other options available in a nice waitress services dining room. The dining room also doubles up as the entertainment venue in the evening and there is bingo and some good quality singers on too. Room was clean and fresh bedding on the two beds. Medium points: Basement leisure area has a fairly small 3 foot deep pool and a small ‘hot tub’. A steam room that doesn’t look like it’s working and no sign of the advertised sauna. Parking is not plentiful. We arrived at 4.10pm and just managed to get a spot down the side of the hotel. Which is tight and relies on you leaving your keys at reception so they can move cars in and out if needed. To be fair. Nothing moved over the weekend. Not great: The room was hot / without any heating on. Room & bathroom windows were opened by us and didn’t make much difference till well after midnight, so was a little uncomfortable. There was a fan available in the wardrobe, which would have been a toss up between the fan noise and the heat… Bath taps quite old and hard to turn on & off. Would stay again. Hoping for a better room next time. We had #59"

"Fabulous staff throughout the place in every single role and contact - huge thank you to them for coordinating and bringing out a birthday cake whilst staff sang, accommodating significant dietary requirements without any problem whatsoever and the chef ringing to discuss on his day off - genuine helpfulness from everyone. Great and hot sauna/ jacuzzi with small pool. Lovely large downstairs social space. More than satisfactory food for a dated traditional HB weekend hotel basis and decent value. Excellent standard of entertainment but so so loud that we left it early in to the second night and sat in the large bar social area. It spoiled it and we know others felt the same. My mum said she wouldn’t return because of that but of this group’s three hotels (? Lyndene and Claremont?) I preferred this one. "

"Have stayed here a few times before but first time in a single room and never again. Room I could cope with just, although for a decent size person toilet squeezed in tightly by shower so no room for a proper sit down. Added to this there were a few rooms on corridor given to a group of young revellers. Fine if consideration shown for others but no, 4.30a.m wake up calls for all as they came in but then proceeded to keep on moving between rooms loudly not helped by the fire door on the corridor between their rooms slamming loudly every time outside my door. Had words with hotel but told they,ve been warned every night they,ve been there and told to quieten down. Some people need sterner action though ! Positives are rooms are cheap in advance and nice sea views from some of the other rooms and near tram stop."

"Some rooms very dated and not like advertised! Staff very accommodating in moving me to a more updated room. The room was better but bathroom was poor in terms of the quality of shower etc. Very poor water pressure and it was impossible to get the shower temperature to a consistent one. Bedding and towels were clean and fresh and room was lovely and quiet. Breakfast was really good. Cannot fault the staff, all very friendly, appeared to enjoy their jobs and very helpful which is extremely refreshing these days!"

"Had a really lovely stay for two days as we were going to a couple of shows. Breakfast was excellent with plenty to eat and good variety of food. Some good bar foods available too. Clean room and bathroom, but could have done with some dusting on lamps and shelves. Staff were really good and helpful. We found the hotel charming and a real lovely old feel to it and the prices were reasonable. Thank you for a lovely stay."
