"The staff was so friendly and always helpful. The rooms were small but beautiful, with a great view over the courtyard. And the best part: for €10, we could rent bicycles for the whole day! "

"The room was great! Really warm, awesome bed and bathroom. The reason for the lower scores was breakfast; breakfast is brought in on a tray from an external supplier. The first day was ok, although it’s obvious the tray had sat for a while. When we went to breakfast we found the room was locked and the delivery guy standing outside in the cold (1c) with our breakfast on the tray. At 09:16 (we had asked for breakfast at 09:00 at check-in) a lady turned up to open the door. The breakfast and room were freezing cold but we were hungry and most places in town don’t open until 10am so ate up! There was no apology or explanation offered.
So overall, great hotel but I’d recommend you skip breakfast."
"The hotel is a perfect little gem for those looking for an authentic Leiden experience. The owner is wonderful, and take great care of the property. Rooms are spacious, with antique and modern charm combined. We normally stay at 5-star hotels with lots of amenities and services - this is not that! More of a 5-star B&B, which was perfect for what we wanted in Leiden. Be warned that the upper floor rooms require climbing very steep and narrow stairs, which would not be good for people with any physical issues. "
