Constant clicking from the radiators throughout the night even though they were on 0. I changed it to 3 and still clicking. Woke me up at 3am. Had to put background noise on to drown it out.
Milk available but out of date.
Staff were incredibly lovely, very welcoming!
Excellent atmosphere- very friendly towards dog- was very wet when we got there but there was a dog towel in hallway and dog bed in the room . Room very clean and unfussy. Hotel itself has a lovely comfortable cosy feel about it. Staff very attentive and food v good too! Would recommend!
Superb for an overnight stay on our way from Scotland to the south coast. Liked the large and recently refurbished room. The public areas were spacious and decorated well also. Friendly and helpful hotel staff.
We had a pleasant overnight stay on our way home from Scotland. The room was fine, very clean and well presented. There was no TV but we didn't need it.
The bathroom had an easy access walk-in shower which was good for anyone with disabilities. However, we believe that all the rooms were accessed by a short but steep flight of stairs which were not easy for a disabled customer.
Dinner was very good from a reasonably good menu.
Lovely smallish independent hotel in a beautiful village setting. Spacious, comfortable room with good bathroom. Nice, local toiletries. Fantastic cooked breakfast included. Atmospheric bar restaurant.
Excellent stay. Surprised it was only 2 and a half star. Room was excellent and clean. All staff were so nice but a special shout out to Lauren (I hope I spelt that right) who was on her feet working and tidying from late at night and up working first thing in the morning. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and was a very nice lady to talk to always making sure we were settled and happy, and we only stayed for one night sadly. We will definitely come back soon.
The property was clean and comfortable.Breakfast was of good quality and nicely cooked.
Only small criticism I have that their wasn't a TV in the room.
The Kings Arms was near our main route but in a quiet village. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room and bathroom were very clean. The bed was very comfortable and there were considerate touches eg. a little bottle of skimmed milk and a couple of sachets of oat milk as well as the usual tea and coffee. There was a socket conveniently below a mirror so I was able to dry and style my hair without any problem. The only criticism was that our room was above the lounge and we were subjected to loud singing and playing for over 3 hours. It was not possible to sleep until it stopped.
Wasn’t aware until shortly before our visit that we’d booked during the Appleby Horse Fair so following a Police advisory, they weren’t selling alcohol. Which was a shame as I like to drink local brewery beer when away, but we were allowed to bring our own bottles. In all other respects, our stay was amazing!
This pub with rooms is perfect for what it is. Room was clean, modern, pleasant. Food was great. People were friendly, kind and welcoming. Close to motorway but quiet and in a pretty village. Used this place to split my journey from London to friends in Scotland. Will use it again. Bravo.
The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was delicious. The hotel was in good condition, with lots of comfy settees and chairs in the bar/lounge area.
On the down side: The room, though nicely presented and furnished, had not been thought through, for the needs of weary travellers. There was nowhere to put your case, (without tripping over it during the night) apart from on the floor, just outside the en-suite. There was a fancy metal unit with a few coat hooks and a small shelf, but nowhere to lay out clothes or hang up clothes. I think this is the first hotel in over 25 years, that has not had a TV or even a radio, in the room. They did however have 2 comfy armchairs, but no table to put a cup or a glass. Which meant that, you had to hold your drink and could not do a lot else. The bathroom had one tiny shelf, although it was a very large room, again it needed more shelving for toiletries. There were a couple of nice touches, i.e. a little jar of sweets in the bedroom and a jar of cotton pad and buds, in the bathroom. Overall, it was very much overpriced for the night and the facilities, especially at this time of the year. In January we stayed in a large estate house for 2 nights and we upgraded twice to get a ground floor room. We only paid about £10 more for those two nights, with everything I mentioned above, than we did for this one night stay.
Beautiful room, amazing bed and shower. Lovely quiet area in beautiful area.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming, but seemed under-staffed. Breakfast was under-whelming.
