"A nice place close to a lot of things. Because it is near major attractions, like malioboro and the station, it was a but loud at night. But overall a good hotel with pleasant staff."

"Incredible hospitality. The staff made us feel super welcome and helped with anything we needed. Delicious breakfasts provided and a perfect location in the heart of Yogyakarta. The shared bathrooms were very clean. "

"The best part about this hotel is the location we’re in the middle of the action everywhere. The bathroom was very small and tiny and definitely needs an upgrade despite the room upgrade that we were promised. The Wi-Fi kept continually needing to be reconnected. For some reason seems like the restaurant and the laundry, etc. are all out Source so we could not charge it to the room Meaning we have to pay cash. I was surprised how expensive hotels were considered. It’s not a huge city."

"This hotel felt like it was supposed to be fancy but really missed the mark in a number of areas. There were some big stains on our bed linens; the bathroom faucet ran brown, possibly rusty, water for the first 5 minutes after turning it on; they advertised a poolside bar but no one seemed to work there or know how to serve or charge for drinks. That said, the staff was kind, the location was perfect, and the breakfast was outstanding. "

"A grand old building in an excellent location, close to the railway station and Malioboro Street. And with a swimming pool, perfect for hot afternoons.
The rooms were adequate but good value for the price I was paying for.
However I did find some dirt on my pillow but I brushed it off. Also Western travellers should be warned that the are traditional Indonesian style bathrooms in the rooms. At least in my room, so a squat toilet with no toilet paper, or flush, and a cold shower. I didn't...

The Phoenix Hotel Yogyakarta - Handwritten Collection
10/10 Excellent
"A beautiful hotel very well located. The property is charming, with an exception pool to relax after visiting the amazing temples in Yogyakarta. And it has one of the best breakfast buffets we had in our trip."
"Broken shower which was never fixed over our 4 night stay dispite telling them. A lot of mould. Incredibly spicy traditional breakfast.
It’s only saving grace was that the beds were comfortable even though I did have a single duvet in a double duvet cover.. "
"Excellent room and services and excellent staff. Reception staff Tamara was very accommodative of our needs and she even arrange a car with driver for us for a 12 hour trip starting early morning. The staff at the restaurant and the roof top bar were excellent too and provided us our choice of food that were not in the menu. I highly recommend this hotel."
"Nice hotel, the room facing the street are noisy. Good breakfast and room service choice, friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are spacious and comfortable will stay again next time."
"Air conditioning went broke after usage. Bed sheets and towels look shabby. The breaker trip when the outlet is used for charging phones with running AC..."
