"The bedroom was basic but comfortable and clean. However, there was only one small wondow giving very little natural light. The heating seemed uncontrollable and the staff tried to help but without effect. The bathroom is a wet room. There is nowhere to hang towels. The extractor fan is very weak. We were not aware of a parking charge before our arrival. Parking is limited with insufficient spaces. "

"A lovely quirky hotel in the centre of Southwold. The staff were brilliant in every area: reception, breakfast, bar, dinner. While the room was quite small, there were nice touches. Free parking is a bonus. It’s an old building so don’t expect air conditioning and there’s lots of creaky staircases. The seagulls are noisy in the morning but you’d expect that being next to the sea. We had breakfast and dinner both nights and the food quality was excellent. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel for a weekend stay."

"Over all it was excellent in every way"

"The room was fine. The pillows & bed were not that comfortable. I told the receptionist that each time we had a shower, a large pool of water was on the floor! Hotel facilities were superb. However, there were a few things that weren't working in the pool. We had a massage which was superb - thoroughly recommend. We eat in the restaurant both nights; food was OK. Thought the fish & chips was greasy and chips not very appetising. Saturday meal was a bit better. The breakfast staff were superb. However, they were rushed off their feet and it didn't help that the coffee machine broke down both days!! The coffee wasn't that great anyway! So, a great weekend but we won't be visiting again."

"Didn’t have to park I used public transport. The room was smaller than I expected, and no chair or kettle and limited storage space, shower worked well. I thought it was worth the money as the location was central to the city. Fan in room was noisy at times as were the other guests."

"The room was lovely and spacious. The furniture was very traditional but you’d expect that at this type of property. The room had a variety of teas and coffees . The home made biscuits were a great addition too . Staff were amazing and made the stay more special due to their attentiveness. All food was exceptional as was the service. The only negative thing I can think of is that there isn’t much to do within walking distance. The grounds were lovely but only took 10 minutes to walk around."
