Omaha’s compact downtown district offers fine dining, fantastic museums and a dynamic nightlife alongside tree-lined parks.

Downtown Omaha is the heart of the city, its historic, social, business and government center. Find diverse attractions, from heritage  buildings to Missouri riverfront boardwalks, sports arenas and sophisticated fine dining. Walk around the city on scenic trails featuring lush green parks and historic sites.

Get involved in Downtown Omaha’s lively nightlife in the Old Market neighborhood. This old industrial district has been transformed into a cultural hub featuring boutique shopping, art galleries, street performances and al fresco dining experiences on the original brick streets. A five-minute walk will bring you to the Heartland of America Park, a secluded oasis featuring lakeside walking and cycling paths, spectacular lighted fountains and gondola rides.

Wander north from the historic Lewis and Clark Landing site along the boardwalk paralleling the Missouri River to North Downtown, stopping at the city marina. Catch one of Omaha’s cheap and convenient city buses to reach Downtown Omaha’s historic birthplace, Miller’s Landing. See a College World Series baseball game at nearby TD Ameritrade Park during the annual June tournament.

Visit Downtown Omaha in late spring to catch the city’s biggest outdoor festival, the annual Taste of Omaha. Sample delicious local and international cuisine at this free three-day festival. Listen to live music, watch gourmet cooking demonstrations and visit the diverse restaurant stalls and vendors that line the waterfront.

Be prepared for cold and snowy Nebraska weather in winter. Extreme weather, including high winds and hail, can also occur between April and August.

Reach Downtown Omaha by Amtrak train or by car via Interstate 480 which runs through the city center. Eppley Airfield, with regular interstate flights to Omaha, is just a five-minute drive from downtown. Whether you’re seeking sports, history or cultural activities, find them in Downtown Omaha, the heartland of America’s Midwest.
