The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike, Autograph Collection
The hotel is older but in a very tasteful way. Our room was pleasantly large and had a lovely view of trees and pond. We visited the chashitsu ( tea house) , so elegant. I can't speak of breakfast or dinner both seemed a bit expensive. So we ate at close by places. Enjoyed our time in Kyoto sorry ...

Biwako Grand Hotel
Everything was exceptional. Did not use the communal spa because we had a private spa in the room with a beautiful view of the lake. Hotel had a shuttle to the train station.

Yumotokan
Lovely stay at ryokan. Probably the biggest building around the area, not much going on outside and hard to navigate unless you are a local or speak japanese. Some staff speak english but google translate will be your best friend. Definitly book the rooms with private onsen, magical experience.

It should be explained that there is a hard check in at 3:00. This hotel is designed for guests to be welcomed at 3:00. Lake Biwa Marriott Hotel
Bedroom and washroom were spacious, clean and looked new. Amenities were great. The hotel has a wide range of facilities, including a planetarium, which we really enjoyed. We had a great time.
