"The ANA in Matsuyama has a phenomenal location, nice sized rooms, and wonderful staff. They have an amazing breakfast on the top floor with a view of Matsuyama castle. The top floor bar is a great place to end the day of activities."

The location was very convenient to the JR train station and I appreciated that it was a little removed from the busy streets, and I sensed that the hotel is about to embark on some renovations. "The host was very welcoming and made everything very fun. He had mican and snacks and water for us. He didn't speak much English, but he had a detailed book about the place with pictures and explanations in English. The place was so Quaint and over 100 years old, but we'll maintained and clean with modern amenities. The futon and bedding were very comfortable. We loved the elaborate garden with fish to feed and the whole ryokan experiences. We were going to go to Matsuyama for shopping after checknin, but decided to stay at the ryokan instead to enjoy the experience."

Also wanted to give a shoutout to the wonderful hotel staff who promptly answered my email query about a makeup pouch i left there and sent it to my next hotel.
