"The owner is not kind or friendly, I had to wait in rain around 40 minutes before a kind neighbor arrived and helped, no bed is ok but tatami and everything is short, I’m 5’8 only and I had to try sleeping in half moon position, no bathroom attached bed room, at night time you have to go down into a very steep stairs which is dangerous, no taxi can enter the premise and will not come to get you. "I will start off by saying this was my favorite hotel of my trip and all of them were great actually. When I arrived I was a bit disappointed as I had wanted to sight see, I could tell that was not an option ( it might be if you plan or understand more about Japan then me) and I probably should have researched more, but I'm glad I did not because this was my families favorite Japan experience. I'm glad I was forced to take a break and just enjoy Japan! The hotel is amazing. The staff is...
"Comfortable sized room and bathroom, slight smell but could have just been from the location of the window as there were other strong city smells nearby. The staff were very polite and helpful. The location is perfect for those who enjoy food and shopping, and the hotel is situated between two Family Marts a block away. "

"After spending a busy couple of days in Tokyo it was great just spending a day here. It really helped us relax and reset. Although isolated the beauty of nature is gorgeous and there are activities to do. It was great that the bus stop was near by as myself and my friend only brought carry on bags. From the moment we arrived to our departure the staff were really friendly. I would com back to this location in the future.

"The room was spacious (family of 4 with 2 teenagers) and clean. The beds were big but a tiny bit hard. The breakfast buffet was excellent with extensive choices both Japanese and enough western food options for our picky family :). I enjoyed the Onsen a few times and the location was perfect, just a 3 minute walk from Gora Station with direct access to the Hokane-Tozan railway and Cable Car (to ropeway). I would recommend this to all my friends visiting this area in the future. "
"We really enjoyed this hotel. It was very well appointed and had everything we needed. There was even a private onsen off the shower room. The hotel was very accommodating with a shuttle to pick us up and drop us off. It was a great experience. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others."
Ajisai Onsen Ryokan - Award Winning Private Open Air Onsen Hakone
10/10 Excellent
"Great for families looking for some traditional serenity. Tucked away with ability to book private onsen. Yes as a base when exploring Hakone, but get ready to walk."
"Recommended! It is a relaxing and peaceful place to stay. We upgraded our room and definitely worthy because we enjoyed our private onsen with beautiful scenery. The onsen is the best we ever had in Japan. "
