"Good location but the check in was not organized. There was someone in the parking spot. They need more explanation about the permits which you must display. In the end I spoke to the concierge to sort it out. The place smelled of smoke. It was a good size and location if a little worn in places. The kitchen isn’t bad and it’s large space. It would help for check in if the keys were labelled and it came with instructions"

"We had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. One thing to be aware of when budgeting for your stay is the parking charges. The undercover car park costs £25.00 per night, while the open-air car park costs £13.50 per night. As we both travelled separately and met at the hotel, we each had a car, which made the parking costs particularly expensive. Personally, I don't agree with charging overnight guests for parking at this venue. If the hotel were located in a city centre, I could understand the need for parking fees, but given the amount of surrounding land available, it feels unnecessary and detracts from an otherwise excellent experience."

"What a beautiful hotel The Parkgate is. We couldn’t have picked better for our stay in Cardiff. The check in was very welcoming and warm, we had arrived early and were very grateful our room was ready. The decor of the hotel was fitting for its history and it was immaculate throughout. Our accessible room was spacious and very well equipped for a perfect nights stay. Breakfast was also a positive experience with great produce and friendly service. A luxury experience on every level. Thank you to the lovely staff and the beautiful accommodation."
