Thecoastal town of Milford Haven in Walesis situated on a prominent spot along the PembrokeshireCoastal Path. Founded on the northernmost stretch of land alongsidethe waterway of the same name, Milford Haven’snatural harbour has made it an important strategic port since the Middle Ages.

WhileMilford Haven has seen a plethora of military andcommercial operations, the town is now a popular seaside destination. Here youcan marvel at an eclectic range of architecture from numerous eras throughouthistory, head to the town’s theatre, museum or art galleries or attend one itsexciting festivals.

Historyin Milford Haven

Themodern day town of Milford Haven wasn’t foundeduntil the late 18th Century, but its natural harbour has made it anarea of interest throughout history. At one point or another, it has playedhome to Vikings, Middle Age military and even US sailors during World War 2.Having given up its prolonged military past, the town is now a commercial huband leisure port that is extremely popular with an ever growing number of tourists.

Strollingthrough the town you can’t help but admire the houses overlooking the port orenjoy taking in its collection of 19th Century terraces, and out onthe town’s craggy coastline you’ll find the grandiose Fort Hubberston,a Grade II listed building that formed part of the UK’s 19th Centurydefence of the Haven.
