Top Mid-Wales Hotel Reviews

The Talbot Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"We were made to feel really welcome and at home - clearly a business that really values its clientele. We will definitely return when we are in the area."

gwesTY Guest House
4/10 Poor
"It might have had a lick of paint since most of the online photos were taken, but it doesn't look as though its been cleaned much since then.
Very dusty and dirty in both the rooms and the bathroom. With regards to cleaning, i'd say the bare minimum has been done. You can usually tell from the corners of the room and especially the cupboard, which was quite dirty and could have been in the same condition since any renovations. Musty smell throughout too.
I noted some other reviewers noticed the shower head was mouldy. That wasnt a problem for us, but the shower hose was black with mould. If it was cleaned at least twice a month this wouldnt be a problem.
The check in was smooth, with a polypocket left for us on the reception counter, although it is a little reliant on trust that nobody enters your room before you. Would perhaps be better to do multiple lock boxes if the reception isn't going to be manned. Plus point is that at least it was very close to the sea front and car parks."

Starling Cloud, Aberystwyth by Marston’s Inns
10/10 Excellent
"Easily found location and a comfortable room."

Dovey Inn
10/10 Excellent
"Beach view. Big bed and separate room for the kids. Clean. A little tired in places but very clean. "

The Glengower
10/10 Excellent
"We had a lovely overnight stay. We paid extra for a sea view room which was well worth it. The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious. "

The Tilman
8/10 Good
"The Tilman was not a bad place to stay, it was clean; staff friendly; breakfast was okay but limited if you only like cereals. The menu for evening meal was disappointing, as it was a variation of different burgers and was a bit over priced. There are plenty of eateries within walking distance of The Tilman. If we do go back I would avoid going before Easter as most shops where closed."

Aberystwyth Park Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Oll OK. Only one night stay."

Macdonald Plas Talgarth Holiday Resort
10/10 Excellent
"Was perfect for our needs. Loads of space. Added bonus of a sauna in the apartment helped after a a day riding trails at Dyfi bike park, which is only 10 minutes away.
Will use again"

Penhelig Arms
8/10 Good
"Nice hotel. Stayed in small dog friendly double room on second floor which had a view over the sea. Although we were on the main road. It was very quiet in the evening & overnight so we slept quite well. Unfortunately, we found that we couldn't close the blind as the mechanism seemed to be stuck. Therefore, the light shone through the sides of the window causing the room to be lighter than we would have liked. Luckily, I had a sleep mask with me but my husband woke early as the room was so bright.
Although the room was compact we still had enough room to move around & had a good sized on suite. The room was very warm as it was a sunny day & the room seemed to get a lot of sunlight. Good in the winter but I imagine it could get very hot in the summer.
Although we didn't have breakfast at the hotel we did enjoy a meal in the bar where they had a dog friendly area. We both enjoyed the burgers. It was nice that they offered gluten free burger buns.
We had a good overnight stay & would stay again if we were travelling in that area."
