This is a lovely place to stay for a refreshing rest and get away from it all. The room was beautifully decorated and comfortable, with delightful touches to make us feel welcome - for example, a welcome glass of sherry and fresh rusks. Upon leaving we were presented with bottles of cold water.
Staff were extremely helpful and food was good. We would highly recommend a stay here.
A little piece of heaven on earth. Wonderful to have an experience of utmost luxury in the middle of nature xxx. Truly a blessing and left with awesome memories. Total tranquility and a venue to restore your soul, body and mind xxx
Gwahumbe is well maintained, the reception area is welcoming with lots of attention to detail, and check in was quick. We stayed at the Eagles Nest unit, which was perched on the top of a hill, where we enjoyed stunning views of the valley below, from the deck and the infinity pool. The unit was spacious, comfortable and immaculate, with 3 bedrooms and an upstairs loft, and 3 bathrooms. The rooms were well furnished with good quality bedding. The one bathroom had a bath, and the other 2 had walk in showers, but the water pressure in one of the showers was erratic. The kitchen was basic but functional and clean, and there was more than adequate tea/coffee provisions, with some yummy rusks to go with it. There is no tv in the unit, which the kids were not too happy about, but we really enjoyed the private boma, which gave us an opportunity to reconnect as a family without any other distractions. There is free WiFi at reception, and good cellphone coverage.
Service is helpful and efficient.
There are not many amenities at Gwahumbe, but the spa treatment was good, and we enjoyed the challenge of the 4x4 trails, and the walks on the game reserve, which gives you an opportunity to view the animals and the extensive birdlife from quite close.
We love the fact that Gwahumbe lodge allows you to relax in complete privacy in a peaceful environment, unlike the highly commercialized busy resorts, that are buzzing with people and staff. Looking forward to our next visit
Schade.
