"The room and Housekeeping were outstanding. Serviced each day. The pool area and food service was also excellent except for the lack of nearby elevators to lower level. There was a fair amount of lounge chair saving. Dajengo upscale restaurant had exceptional food and service. The Swan Court buffet was very good. The Sonnz steak house left a lot to be desired. Food was OK but not exceptional. After receiving our appetizers and salads our main course evidently got lost in the system as well as our waiter. Waiter returned and said our food should arrive soon. After another wait the food arrived. Manager arrived and offered a glass of wine. We went to sign the bill to our room and the waiter said sorry but you will have to pay with a credit card. You should have been told when you arrived. There is some kind of tech problem. (Another guest told us they had same problem and checked with the hotel who said there was no problem). Manager arrived and said he removed an appetizer from bill. The other problem was getting our room. We had prepaid 9 days and were to have arrived the previous evening but due to airline cancelations and rerouted we did not arrive until 330 the following day having. The hotel charged us for the day. We waited an hour for room, inquired and told housekeeping hadn't cleared waited another hour. Went to concierge who said they would try to expedite. After another wait went to ask. Told not ready and asked for Manager who immediately resolved -gave us room"

"Clean spacious modern rooms with a full kitchen, BBQ, a pool and free parking, but location isn't walkable to the main beaches or restaurants and there isn't any dining options onsite or around, so you'll need a car to get around, but overall a comfortable and peaceful stay during our trip!"
Grand Wailea Maui, A Waldorf Astoria Resort

"It’s just not the same…. Like so many things these days it just isn’t up to the standards it once was for luxury, quality and service. This was my fifth trip to the Grand Wailea since it originally opened. The grounds were still mostly beautiful although many tiki torches were nonfunctioning, handrails missing, cracked, missing tiles at the adult pool was particularly sad to see and areas within the grounds that just seemed unkept, especially around the old Asian restaurant, which is now shuttered/abandoned. Upon arrival, I immediately knew that something was a miss when the incredible waterfall that sets the tone for the grandeur that was always promised was inoperative. The staff says it has been broken for over a year and has not been fixed. This was the center piece of the tropical experience for me. It is this lack of maintenance that would keep me from going back to the Grand Wailea as it is no longer a five star resort, even after their $350 million partial resort renovation. Our ocean view room was large and comfortable, but the decor was as basic as a Holiday Inn. One picture, one decorative mirror was all the design afforded. You could tell they’ve cut way back on staff too. It is still a worthy of at least one holiday if your priority is to enjoy the extensive pools, spa, etc. If you’re truly looking for a five star experience, the Four Seasons is a better choice."
