The most amazing way to stay in Matera. Nothing bad to say. Hosts were OUTSTANDING, communication, guidance, support. Cave was amazing. Breakfast was perfect. Location could not be better (very minimal stairs) and steps from a car drop off spot. Will reccomend this place 100% 👍

What a fantastic & unique stay! I loved the idea of being able to stay in surroundings that make this town so The staff are exceptionally friendly & took plenty of time to explain the area & give recommendations which were exceptional! Matera Cave Stay

We stayed here for one night. Pre check-in information was excellent. We were directed to a car park just 5 mins walk to the accommodation. On arrival Francesco was super helpful telling us the top sites to visit and giving us restaurant recommendations. The breakfast was delicious, the best we’ve had so far on our trip. Your perfect hotel in Matera!!!!

Just perfect spot to stay- you are perfectly located- can drop yr luggage from your car 20 yards away and Francesco is super helpful to get it to your room. Parking for the car is 3 blocks away in a super safe place. Then you check into this amazing room in a cave that is subtle but surreal- all the conforts of today in a cave!! Steps away from the best areas in this 9000 years old city!!! Just an amazing small hotel, great tips to go for dinner (la loppa) and all around perfect Matera experience.

On a multi month trip, this was the highlight! There service was the best we have experienced (Including many 5 star hotels). The breakfast was amazing!. Paola and her team were amazing! We felt so well taken care of from the moment we arrived. They had tons of great recommendations for drinks and restaurants. Her brother introduced us to Caffè Leccese, an almond-flavored iced coffee, which quickly became our new obsession. The breakfast buffet was a definite highlight, we looked forward to it every morning... it was so fresh and just what we needed to start the day. We also loved the daily visits from the friendly local cat, Willow, she's adorable, and it was nice to see her every time we came back. The space itself is gorgeous and has the perfect cave vibe...so unique and cozy, yet incredibly clean. We were in town for a wedding, and our stay at Aque Cave made discovering the charm of Matera even more special.

If I had to describe the hotel in a single word, it would be impeccable. But even that wouldn't do it justice. Our stay was nothing short of extraordinary — an experience we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives with deep joy and gratitude. From the accommodations and location to the weather, cuisine, and overall atmosphere, everything was truly exceptional. And Ague Cave was the perfect finishing touch — the icing on the cake. The rooms were thoughtfully and flawlessly designed, every detail carefully considered. Each breakfast was beautifully prepared and presented, with delicious food that exceeded all expectations. The staff were caring, attentive, and genuinely kind. A special mention must go to our hosts, Paola and Francesco. Their warmth and generosity left a lasting impression. Uma das melhores experiências que já tivemos. Ficamos na suite com vista para a cidade. Simplesmente incrível. Enorme, dentro de uma caverna, muito limpa, excelentes mobiliários e roupa de cama. Tudo perfeito. Você é recebido pelo dono que lhe explica tudo da cidade e lhe dar todas as dicas. Importante seguir a recomendação de deixar o carro num estacionamento fora da cidade com transfer incluso. Paguei 30 euros por dia. O local do café da manhã é mais pitoresco ainda, bem dentro da caverna. Adoramos tudo!!

La struttura è incastonata nel Sasso Caveoso, e ne ha mantenuto tutti i tratti distintivi, scavata nella calcarenite (arenaria) tipica dei Sassi, seppur totalmente rinnovata e arredata in maniera splendida con dettagli che riportano in vita antichi oggetti del passato. La gestione dei due fratelli Paola e Francesco è quel qualcosa in più che ti fa sentire a casa, ti da l'impressione di essere venuti a trovare due vecchi amici (anche se li conosci da 10 minuti); si siedono lì con te a raccontarti la storia di Matera, dalla "vergogna d'Italia" fino alla "Capitale della Cultura 2019", a raccontarti la vita vera dei loro nonni nei Sassi, e a scrivere tutto quello che potresti vedere/fare/assaggiare/sorseggiare...a darti un consiglio via Whatsapp anche per un semplice gelato.. proprio come i veri amici fanno! Niente è lasciato al caso. La colazione, nonostante le modifiche alla modalità imposte dai protocolli anti-Covid è spettacolare, abbondante e variegata. La pulizia della struttura si attesta su livelli di eccellenza. Non so quanto il mio parere possa contare, ma quando mi capiterà di essere a Matera, tornerò dai miei "vecchi" nuovi amici.

L’eccellenza e’ di casa.

Raramente impiego del tempo per inserire recensioni, ma questo soggiorno e questa struttura mi hanno decisamente colpito. Questa coppia di ragazzi, con la loro passione, sono riusciti a costruire una struttura piccola, ma favolosa. Eccezionale la cura costruttiva della camera integrata nel sasso di Matera. Ho ricevuto indicazioni molto dettagliate sulla storia della città e sulle sue attrazioni, molto meglio di una guida turistica! L’unica carenza la distanza dei parcheggi, ma ampiamente compensata dalle attenzioni dei titolari, giovanissimi ma animati da una sana passione, che traspare nella cura maniacale dei dettagli. Ciliegina sulla torta: una colazione abbondante e gustosa. Da viaggiatore navigato posso asserire con tranquillità: il miglior soggiorno di cui abbia ricordo. 10 e lode. Grazie.
