"During our four-night stay at the Althoff Palace Hotel, booked via the U.S. website, we were impressed by the facilities but deeply disappointed by the service standards, which fell well below expectations for a five-star property. From arrival, friendliness and professionalism were lacking compared to luxury hotels we regularly stay at, such as the Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, and Peninsula. We initially booked a suite but downgraded due to dissatisfaction with the room. A significant issue...

"A lovely little hotel with very helpful and friendly staff, rooms were quite basic but very clean and a decent breakfast. We were at a trade fair in Cologne which was very easy to get too as the train station was a 5 minute walk from the hotel and only 3 stops away...very easy and with plenty of restaurants and bars near by would certainly recommend this hotel"

"Very nice hotel perfectly located. Pond and terrrace is beautiful but we could not eat on the terrace…. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed mondays and yuesdays (the two days we were there) "

"Staff very helpful as we have dietary requirements. They bought appropriate food for breakfast to fulfil our dietary needs. Towels were thin and a few basic toiletries possibly would enhance the stay."

"Very nice small hotel. We arrived late in the evening and was greeted by the night portier. Everything went smothly. We booked just a few hours before arriving and was in touch with the hotel to receive very good service. Just around the corner there was a bakery to buy bread."
