The building of the Railway Station of Maia. This railway line was opened in 1932 and you go by train from Porto to Guimarães. The section between Senhora da Hora and Trofa was closed in 2002 because of the construction of the Metro do Porto. Ever since the old railway line functions as a Ecovia, which stands for a walking and cycling path. Many people use this 5km stretch of asphalt for recreational activities nowadays. Even the station's building was restored recently and it is a restaurant now. A great example how to transfer old #infrastructure into something new and useful! #History #Portugal #Railway

Spacious room. Complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water. Excellent breakfast, with plenty of variety. The 3rd floor Cuzco bar serves great food and has impressive views of the Douro and the Ponte Luís. A stones throw from the riverside and in the heart of the port wine district.
