"The El Capitan in Merced is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at; it is superior to all the 4/5 star chains. The decor and architecture is interesting and worth exploring. The service (front desk, doorman, coffee house/bar and employees walking around) is top notch and frankly unusual these days. The bed was perfect and I sleep on a TempurPedic at home. The layout of the room/bath was perfect. The in-house restaurant Rainbird was outstanding. Overall, I give the El Capitan a 10+ in every way. Hoping we have a reason to get back or go through Merced again soon, so we can stay at the El Capitan again."

"We had a Studio with 2 queen beds in the 1st floor for an overnight stay after spending a day in Yosemite. The room looked and smelled clean. It was well maintained. It was also quiet. The room amenities were also great and in good condition. The breakfast was your usual American style breakfast. They had breads, yogurts, cereals, fruits, oatmeal station, and waffle making station. We had to tell the breakfast attendant, Kim, that the sausage in the biscuits with gravy sandwich was still a bit frozen in the center. Kim apologized and thanked my Aunt for informing her. Overall, our stay was pleasant and that I can recommend the hotel."

"We had a great stay at the Hampton Inn in Madera. The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and conveniently located for our trip to Yosemite. The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The complimentary breakfast was greatly appreciated, especially since we were getting an early start for Yosemite. Parking was easy, and the hotel was quiet and relaxing. Overall, we had an excellent experience and would definitely stay here again when visiting the area."
