"Very warm, witty & enthusiastic check-in by Virginie (thank you!). This property is very central. The room didn’t have much of a view (looked onto a dirty city wall) but once the Lloyd Coffee Bar closed at 10pm it was quiet. Amenities met expectations: Good water power in the walk-in shower and bathroom tap, Rituals toiletries (a treat!) and hairdryer. Tea & Coffee making facilities and free mini water offered. There was also an in-room safe, TV with international news stations, and several power points. We had a standard room with twin beds - comfy enough with two plump pillows per bed. Crucially it was a very clean room. We took breakfast at a cost of €15 per person (but as a VIP Member, the Expedia website told me the price was €1 extra on top of my booking even post-check-in. So Expedia and the hotel need to sort that out between them as we had to paid €30 in total. Breakfast at 8.30am was a very noisy affair in a roped-off area of the very busy Lloyd Coffee Bar in the foyer. Portions were small but aside from the main, one could eat or drink seconds. That said, the coffee was absolutely awful nasty stuff - a dark roasted robusta out of an automatic machine. Thankfully Brussels has high end specialist coffee shops like Kaffabar (owned by Marc Daniels) where we went to get a Chemix of Guatemalan roast to purge the memory of the Lloyds Coffee. Overall, we could not fault the location; staff were competent and professional. Its was a real find for our stay in Brussels."
