Night out with the Boys

Arrived at 2:30 pm and couldn’t check in due to no rooms available (a bit disappointed as I needed to get changed before meeting the boys at 3:00 pm. Managed to get a car parking spot which was good, as limited parking. Hotel clean same as my room which was quite basic but had a good shower.

1st room I checked onto was the size of a student dogs. Poor quality throughout and not worth the money. Reception changed the room, and whilst better was equally rum down. Could feel the springs in the bed which made for a rough night's sleep. Room was also extremely hot. Has the chicken gyro at dinner and sent it back, chicken was not cooked through. Overall the place is on dire need of an upgrade. I travel regularly and base my choice on the reviews, this place does not deserve anything near what is stated.

My bedroom 109 was I think above the kitchen so heard noises from the kitchen activities. The shower bifold door hinge was broken so the magnetic strips never worked in properly closing the shower doors. The room was comfortable with a single bed and we'll heated. The food was excellent, including the main meals and my 2 breakfasts. The kippers were to die for!...beautiful oily fish... wonderful way to start the day!! I would recommend the hotel and I would come again.

Not the greatest but ok

A rather dated hotel but value for mo rat was fine. Creaky floor boards which meant you heard lots of movement so not a great sleep. In the morning at breakfast the kitchen and waitress were talking on and swearing which was very disappointing. The setting of the hotel is very good

Holiday break

The hotel was nice,but after 10pm there was no bar staff just the night porter,one of the breakfast staff was not very friendly,my wife cut her foot on the bathroom floor we reported it

Like Lowestoft, the Hatfield feels like a place that's trying to get to a better place. We stayed there quite a few years ago and it seemed quite tired and in need of a bit of care. This time the difference was quite notable. The bar and restaurant area had been renovated and modernised, completely unrecognisable from the tired state it had fallen into in the past. The accomodation part of the hotel, was still a little dated, a garish carpet being in marked contrast to the modern lines of the bar area.While clean and tidy the rooms are comfortable but a little basic, which is absolutely fine for a couple of days stay. While staying there the weather became typically Autumnal, with a noticeable drop in the temperature. Unfortunately the hotel heating seemed to be playing up, and some of the rooms (like ours) were very cold. After mentioning this, an alternative, and distinctly warmer, room was offered to us without any fuss or disagreement. It's an older building and understandably things don't always run smoothly, but the least you can expect from a hotel in autumn (particularly a British one) is that you're going to feel warm. At the end of the day this was a minor inconvenience,, the staff were friendly and courteous throughout, from the manager to the cleaning staff and the hotel is a good base to explore the East Coast. I look forward to visiting in the future and seeing the hotel and the town's continued evolution.
