"This hotel needs ALOT of renovations and upgrades. The bed was cheap, thin mattress & noisy. The sofa bed was dirty. The shower super small, the AC loud and old, and needed to be cleaned out and replaced the filter. The ceiling fan was also dirty, the fan blades NEEDS to be dusted and cleaned. The shower towels were old, hard and small. And the stairs to go upstairs are steep and semi dark. The second floor stairs does not have any railings and it is unsafe for people, especially the elderly, younger and disabled people. In general this hotel was not a good choice. The reason I chose it was because on their description it promotes to be a walking distance from the shops etc. While it is, I would had rather have the hotel be in better conditions to have your guests stay a positive one."
"Distance from Avalon was further than expected. The hotel was located the top of a large hill. Advertisement said pool was heated ;however it was not heated at all. Rooms were nice, clean and spacious"
"There is one door key made when the dinosaurs walked the earth, if you lose that one key, they charge you $50. It only functions half the time. Its absurd. It took a solid 10 minutes for water to heat up for a shower. I cleaned the toilet when I got in the room. For the price, it should be a lot better.
I will stay elsewhere next time."
"We booked a last minute trip, and this was the most affordable place. I had tried to contact the property, to inquire on utensils provided and beach towels, but could not get a hold of a live person (called 3 different times) and did not receive a response back from email message. Upon arrival, there was no one at the front window; a sign read out to lunch, please take keys. As soon as I walked into Townhome 112, the scent overcame me- it smelt like mildew. It felt like the room hadn’t been opened in sometime, like an old closet. We weren’t planning to spend too much time in the room, so we opened all windows to air out the smell. Upon returning to the room after an evening of walking, we saw little roaches scurrying around the kitchen floor. The next day, as we were sitting at the table eating breakfast, one of the little roaches came from under the table and made its way into the paper bag we had sitting on the table. The worst instance was my husband laying on the downstairs bed, and feeling a big roach crawl up his arm. He immediately flicked it off. We knew there must be a roach issue, as they were coming out in the day time, with a room full of people. I think there may also be a leak in this room, as we noticed drops from the upstairs bathroom drop into the first floor. Other than the room issues, the location was good. We didn’t know there was a balcony upstairs, so it was a nice surprise to have a partial ocean view."
"They should show the bad rooms on their site and not the only good room of the hotel. The room I had didn't even have a phone to contact the front desk and the when I called on my cell to the main number, no one answers and it goes to the voice mail."
"Check in was great. Friendly service. I was expecting a family room for four but instead I was booked into two separate units. They quickly rectified, but also charged us additional cost. They had a nice sitting area with fire we enjoyed. The walk to the ferry was about 7 minutes, but pulling suitcases on cobblestone type of walkway wasn't to easy. If you are over 60 with issues I recommend taking a quick taxi.
Our room was comfortable and the group was happy with the accommodation and the location of the hotel. We would stay again quite happily. Catalina was beautiful!"
"The walkway you see in the pics alone is worth the stay! The units are very comfortable and the kitchen has a gas stove, plates, cups, pots / pans and good size refrigerator. This is all nice because the only grocery on the island is a 3 minute walk (super close!) TV's in every room and the balcony / main entrance has French doors. It's beautiful. The shower is very small, as is the bathroom (unit 14), but serves it's purpose well. There is a 6 drawer dresser, two storage spaces with hangers (in different rooms) and a small breakfast table."
