"Ardfern is a very pretty village and a great springboard to explore Argyll. The decor is dark but there are tables outside and a great view of the loch from the picnic benches out back. The bar area has a great feel and a regular stream of sailors from the local marina"

"The breakfast was ok The rooms terrible, aweful odor, the elevator was broke, just an old place that needs fixing. Did contact the hotel owners group and they were very responsive "

"Staff did the best they could and were extremely friendly but the overall stay was a big let down. We quite understood that our room would not be ready before the specified time but, as the website had mentioned a snack bar/deli we thought we'd spend some time there. Unfortunately it had closed some time ago. Although there was comfortable seating in the reception area it was freezing. We subsequently discovered that the hotel is only heated for an hour or two in the morning and again in the evening. We ate in the dining room the first evening and found the food was mediocre at best. The breakfast, however, was extremely good. It's a pity that the breakfast times were incorrect on the website meaning that our travel arrangements meant we had to skip it on our second day. Overall, very disappointing. The hotel seems to be catering for coach parties visiting for evening meals and not for the individual traveller."

"Our stay was great. The food was good; huge made-to-order breakfast omelette. Only problem was the bathtub needed a bit of scrubbing....there was scum around the sides in the bathtub. Other than that it was great."

"We stayed one night in Oban in our way from Inverness to Glasgow. A bit of a detour, but worth it. We booked last minute. The hotel has a superb view of the bay. Unfortunately we timed it with a large group of tourists staying there, and this seemed to have overwhelmed the staff a bit. We couldn't park in the hotel, and parked in the street overnight. That was ok. The staff accommodated that we could have breakfast earlier than the booked time. It was ok for one night stop, but maybe not more. Under different circumstances had the hotel not been busy with large group of tourists, I am sure the experience would have been much better."

"The reception area does not answer their phone after 6p. The evening shift person at the desk was preoccupied and gave little to no direction to find you room. The rooms were very small and older."
