"Lovely location, apartments need Renovating completely…. Taps in apartments are hot and cold individual taps…water so hot that a child could burn their hands…..decor which is dated and tired….everything needs updating and maintaining from our experience… The location is out of this world hence the 3 stars…. Wifi did not work….horrendous coverage in resort - phone signal also not good but to be expected in such a lovely location….but the wifi should be sorted properly by the hotel It’s called a resort - but the tennis courts are missing nets and the court ground is turning to rubble….the kids play area is missing a swing of some sort and is small……not much to do for them…swimming is time limited for kids Apartments are cleaned, but our apartment smelt of pets…. No electric vehicle charge points- absolute joke Overall a lovely location you won’t be disappointed but if you are a person with good standard of hygiene and cleanliness - you will be disappointed as we were."

"The location was excellent. The staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast was good enough. The hotel was clean. It needs updating. Our two nights stay was satisfactory. We had a hot water problem in the shower but it was attended and fixed. Though water in the shower was not hot enough not enough force. No major issue. Thanks"

"Our room was on the ground floor and the hall way along to the room smells so strong of damp it almost smelt like fuel. The room was basic which is what you would expect for the price paid as this was just a base for us as we were attending a wedding in the Tarbet hotel which was fully booked…however I don’t think it had been cleaned there was bits of old food and rubbish on the floor I stood in what seemed to be peanut butter. The mattress protector was all stains and the sheet didn’t fully fit the bed, as it was so hot we were going to use the grey throw from the bottom of the bed instead of the quilt but this smelt like urine so was put on the floor. The hotel it’s self when you enter is bright and clean along with the bar area drinks were well priced and the pool table was free! Don’t know if the rooms on the higher floors are better. Arrochar it’s self was a lovely wee place with stunning views and food amenities for the size of it, would recommend Ben Arthur’s Bothy for food, drinks and entertainment! And the staff were amazing friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back to Arrochar but stay elsewhere."

"We stayed one night as we were going to Loch Katrine for a cruise on the Walter Scott. Our room was clean and comfortable. Tea coffee supplied. It was dated but for the amount we paid it was good. The hotel is quite large and seemed to cater for bus parties. There was a large function suite for the bus parties to dine in. We had breakfast and an evening meal. Our meal was very reasonably priced. The bar is well stocked. We managed to walk into Aberfoyle from the hotel along a path through woods which was lovely as bluebells were everywhere! All the staff were very pleasant ."

"This hotel has the most beautiful surroundings- with wonderful scenic views. But it is soooooo dated. Rooms are big and spacious - but soo old and with carpets not really covering in the corners - windows full of old dirt and beds not worth spending the night in. Oh and the smell of old …If this place was renovated it would be an absolute gem. Food not that good - breakfast just the basics and not very well presented. The spa/pool has everything you need but again - could you fix the broken tiles the roof and make it just a bit more 2026 than 1986. The garden - the lake - the mountains. The location stunning! "

"The hostel is in a wonderful position and it's a grand old building. We really enjoyed staying here. We had a private room and it was very large. The shared toilets and showers were all very clean. Our only disappointment was the food. We chose to have dinner when we arrived. You pre order and then go to the dining room at a pre arranged time. Well the fish and chips were just pulled out of a warming draw and had obviously been there for ages. Even though we were five minutes early for our alloted time. The fish was practically solid and the chips were nearer in colour to black than golden. So very poor. After walking 16 miles of the West Highland Way we were in no mood to argue. The curry was acceptable but no more. If you choose to stay here cook your own food is our advice. It's a pity because everything else was so nice. The breakfast is very basic but ok, and is very reasonable. No cooking involved so too difficult for anyone to mess up ! "
