"We arrived about 3pm and were met by a cheerful lady who welcomed us and showed us our rooms. The rooms were clean and tidy and totally adequate for what we wanted and expected. All the amenities worked and it all smelt fresh. We got freshened up, had a walk around the village (Stunning views) then came back to eat at the hotel. The place was starting to fill up a bit by 6pm and we chose our meals from the varied and traditional menu. The meal arrived without too much of a wait and it was piping hot and full of flavour, the portions were a good size and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. It was a Saturday and the bar was buzzing, friendly happy people, a great atmosphere. There was a good selection of beers and spirits and the ales were excellent and well kept. All round, a really good place to stay and I would totally recommend it, it was just a shame we were only staying the one night. I nearly forgot the breakfast.... Don't you forget the breakfast... again it was excellent. A continental breakfast is included in the room price but we all opted for the full English and every part of it was cooked to perfection... Brilliant. In summary, don't hesitate to stay at the Y Pengwern, you will not be dissapointed. We will certainly going back, if we get the chance. Thank you to all the staff.... Excellent."

"The hotel was stunning and the staff are very helpful and pleasant. The location is beautiful and ideal for walking in to town centre. The food was very nice, I can’t critique anything about the hotel, staff or service. I gave the amenities 3/5 only because we didn’t stay long enough to use them."

"Quite a change since the takeover; breakfast remains excellent, and the room I stayed in has had a big makeover. Everything was really good, except for the new Car Park payment which is a bit complicated, you really need to download the YourParkingSpace app to help. I had difficulty using the QA code on the reception desk. Seems to be free parking though if you book direct ??"

"We went out for the day and came back late to find our room hadn’t been made up , no clean towels no bed made ect had to go off to reception and they came to the door with it all . We had meal allowance £30 each eve meal , we had the sirloin steak it was thin and over cooked couldent cut it . that took up our meal allowance , no good at all . had a starter £9.50 for a tiny bit of pate and lettuce leaves and 3 tiny thin biscuits, very over priced ! I think all the starters were over priced for what you got ! Also the wine was £12.25 a glass , never worth that . Breakfast was ok , was too small in place it was , eggs dried up , had to wait for more , seems like didn’t put enough out as by 8.30 - it was really busy ! That was the Sunday , things were much better on Monday morning when it wasn’t so busy ."

"Check in was fast and efficient. The room was clean, although it only had a small window there was a door to the courtyard we could open. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The shower was fine and there was a good beverage tray with biscuits. Breakfast was quite chaotic with food not being replenished and tables not being cleared and cleaned. However the cooked breakfast was tasty."

"Overnight stay . Staff very welcoming and friendly , and informative about Hotel and surrounding area . Did not actually stay in the Hotel but in one of the lodges behind Hotel which is ground floor level . Bathroom exceptionally clean . Bedroom clean and would benefit an upgrade . Anxious about leaving window open overnight as on ground level so felt quite stuffy at night . Full WelshBreakfast very good and served hot . Staff very pleasant . Free Good parking facilities overnight . Enjoyed our stay ."
