"I relied on Chat GPT for my pick of a hotel in Amsterdam and it was spot on! It’s an adorable boutique hotel on the canal and right in the heart of all the action. It was a short walk to the Anne Frank house and the 9s shopping district. Our room was beautifully decorated with a very modern bathroom. The lobby and adjoining sitting rooms were warm and welcoming! Our room faced the canal which was exactly what I wanted. It was the perfect spot to end our 14 day trip to Norway before we flew home!"

"Stayed at Backstage sept 14-19. Room was compact, bed was comfortable (pillow, not so much). Room and shared washrooms/shower cleaned regularly. Central location to walk to museums, Vondelpark, Anne Frank museum etc. The only downsides were the street noise level in the late evening hours with revellers, construction next door early morning (clearly beyond hotels control)and interior noise level from guests using hallway and stairs and letting doors slam shut."

"We stayed for three nights and overall had a good experience. The hotel is in a prime Amsterdam location and has the charm of an older building, although that comes with some downsides. Our room and bathroom were extremely small and tight. The shower drain was also very slow and flooded the bathroom a couple of times. However, the front desk staff and manager were fantastic. They brought us plenty of towels, offered to personally mop up the water, and offered to move us to another room. Since we were told the drainage could be similar due to the age of the building and the other room was roughly the same size, we decided to stay. They also gave us two complimentary breakfasts, which was a very kind gesture. Breakfast was excellent, with a great selection and good value considering Amsterdam prices. The biggest area for improvement was housekeeping. The bed was made, but the bathroom and toilet did not seem to be properly cleaned and remained noticeably dirty. Overall, great location, excellent breakfast, and wonderful reception staff and management. The room size, drainage, and housekeeping keep it from five stars, but the staff deserve a lot of credit."
