Take a trip to Kungsholmen and enjoy shopping, relaxation and unforgettable sights next to the City Center.

Kungsholmen refers to the scenic island in the centre of the Swedish capital, and also the specific neighbourhood which includes Stadshagen, Marieberg, Kristineberg och Fredhall. This is an area full of government agencies and large enterprises, but during your weekend trip to Kungsholmen you will get to explore the other attractions this island has to offer.

You will be staying next to one of the most iconic structures in Sweden - the town hall known as Stockholms Stadshus. Take a guided tour around The Blue Hall and the Golden Hall, the fabulous banquet halls used by the Nobel Prize award ceremony. The imposing tower adorned with three crowns is 106 meters tall, and half way up the stairs you can visit the museum Tornmuseet, before you are rewarded with a stunning view over Stockholm.

If you want to go shopping you can amble along Sankt Eriksgatan and Drottningholmsvagen, where it is also easy to find nice cafés, bars and restaurants. In the shopping mall Vastermalmsgallerian you can look for fashionable clothes, gadgets and furnishings. Relax with a nice cup of coffee just as you like it - the baristas are well versed in the latest coffee trends.

Stockholm's inhabitants all love their green areas within the city, and if you book a weekend package to Kungsholmen, you will never be far from a quiet park where you can have a picnic. Relish the view from Stadshusparken or walk along to Fredhallsparken where you can go outdoor swimming from the rocky beaches. If you need to cool off you can head to the sandy beach Smedsuddsbadet in the city park Ralambshovsparken.

There are several tube stations near Kungsholmen, which means that you can get to the vibrant surrounding areas of Stockholm in no time. Even travelling around is an experience, as each underground station has on display unique works of art. You can explore these tube stops on your own or go for a guided art tour with SL. Notably, the beautiful rusty red cave at Radhuset Station has been given much internationally attention, and Fridhemsplan Station focuses on beach influenced art and colour schemes.

During your weekend trips to Kungsholmen you can explore all the Swedish capital has to offer. Take the underground from Stockholm Central Station and you will get to Kungsholmen in just a few minutes.
