We had a lovely experience staying in Sakuya hotel. The owners were very kind and helpful, offered us shuttle van to go to town. Offered us private onsen which was very relaxing. Rooms were futon bed with a view of Mt Fuji, breakfast was so yum. Would definitely come next time.
We loved the fact that it was owned by a family. Felt very homey and cozy. Would definitely come again. It was the best experience for first timers visiting Mt Fuji/Lake Kawaguchiko area. Great price and loved the Onsen too!!
The guesthouse is lovely and if you are lucky you may see the mount Fuji from all the clouds. The walk to the lake is nice, through some small streets and plantations.
It is quite remote in the sense that often you have to take a train, bus and a taxi to get to the guesthouse. So plan for the long travel. There was no pick-up service offered and when leaving we got a ride because another family had a baby with them, but then it had to be on their schedule.
We arrived after dark via taxi and were surprised at the incredible location and architecture. This is an authentic Japanese experience— tatami floors and comfortable futon mats!! We knew we would be magically surprised in the morning and we were! It’s nestled up on the hillside with an incredible view of Mt Fuji! It was a treat to be able to privately soak before bed in an ofuro (we imagine it too has a view of Mt Fuji in the day). Sunrise view in the room of Mt Fuji was unreal! Framed in the most beautiful natural setting. The guesthouse is clean, and the hosts are very friendly and well knowledgable in the area. And fluent in English! Breakfast was delicious and so healthy! A absolute must! The owner was kind enough to drive us to our 9:30 am sake brewery tour in town. We definitely want to stay at Sakuya Guesthouse again and hopefully also climb Fuji San!
This is our 2nd time staying here, somethings have changed. We arrived at Kawaguchiko station lately evening due to bus problem from Oshino Hakkai. Then bus services around Kawaguchiko were no longer available. We called to hotel but there was no pick-up service anymore. We had to take a taxi to go to hotel that very expensive. As we arrived late, there was no dinner service either. We had to buy something to eat from lawson. In the morining we had to check out early. The owner helped find the bus time and dropped us off at the bus stop. The room is quite old but clean. I like we can reserve a private onsen.
Room was clean, spacious enough, heating on. View of Fuji with greenery outside window. Very quiet. Dinner and breakfast can be preordered. Friendly home couple

Staff was good and very cozy i personally recommend
Comfortable stay in a charming and lovely guesthouse. Greeted with amazing views of Mt Fuji in the morning directly from the room. Good breakfast. Nice bathing facilities which you can book privately in the evening. Hosts were amazing and provided good recommendations for things to do throughout our stay. Walls are on the thinner side and we could sometimes hear other guests (some loud snorers in the night) but overall no problem. Would be happy to stay there again.
I didn't like very poor facilities of a room, high price for such a hotel. Expensive but poor breakfast. The small pool is available only two hours. I wonder how this hotel received 9.2 points and status wonderful!
