"After a couple of days wending my way from Onomichi to Imabari on the Shimanami Kaido the Shimanami Prime Hotel Imabari proved to be a great choice for my final night in the Seto Inland Sea area. It’s conveniently located just a short walk from the Imabari train station where both the regular bike rental station and the Giant store are located, and where I had to board the highway bus back to Fukuyama the next morning. Check-in was easy and once I did the staff informed me my bags had been dropped off already by Sagawa transport - which was great since that let me freshen up before dinner. Imabari offers plenty of dining options but I had to sample the local “buta-niku” specialty rice bowl and one of the best places in town happens to be near the Prime Hotel. Called Hakurakuten, it’s only a five minute walk away and just as someone had described to me the rice bowl and the karaage on the side were absolutely excellent. Soaking in the hotel’s onsen was a great way to unwind after dinner before turning in. The room itself was typical Japanese business hotel – small but functional. Just right for one night though with the small amount of luggage I had brought. The morning breakfast buffet was another highlight with plenty of choices and very delicious food. After filling up I reluctantly had to bid goodbye to this lovely area of Japan and had to bid goodbye to this lovely area of Japan and head back to Tokyo but I’ve already vowed to return for a longer visit in the future. "Nothing particularly special about the room or the hotel, but it was clean, comfy, and convenient. Location is excellent if you are here for the famous Dogo onsen. Staff allowed me to park my bike for free near the front of the hotel. Very friendly staff. "

"Our room was spacious and clean, charming and comfortable with tatami floors, low beds, and lots of place to sit. In addition to pajamas, there were robes and outer robes for onsen visits, tabi socks and slippers. Our room had a private spring-fed tub looking out over the city and the historic onsen across the street. The area was quiet and we slept well. The included breakfast in the hotel restaurant was fantastic -- so many delicious options. And the rooftop hot bath was lovely, with amazing views. The staff was warm and helpful. Some parts of the hotel (the bathroom and tub area in our room, for example) could use a little renovation and freshening up, but overall it was a beautiful place to stay. You can get a tram quite near the hotel that takes you to the castle, at the foot of which is a great area with shops and restaurants."

"The staff were so lovely and the hotel had lots of little nice touches that made it a pleasure to stay at. Dogo onsen was next door and the hotel provided towels and yukata to take. The room was quiet and peaceful. I didn’t dine at the hotel but enjoyed the free sake bar and there were lots of options for food nearby. "

"Upon arrival the staff kindly informed us of our forwarded luggage from the previous hotel. Which was already placed in our room. Upon entry we noticed 1 piece of luggage was missing. I want to thank the staff of Dogo Yaya for their hard work in getting the luggage to our hotel within 24 hours of arrival. Service was amazing. The onsen facilities around the hotel were good and the hotel provided the necessary clothes and towels. The breakfast buffet had a large variety of foods which we enjoyed a lot. I highly recommend the hotel if you're staying in Matsuyama. Next time I will consider booking a night extra, 1 day was too short. "
