"We enjoyed our night at Ratho farm. Comfortable bed in a nicely styled room with bath. The dinner was a homestyle, good value meal at a shared table. The manager shared some historical storytelling about the property. Even if you don't have golf clubs you can go for a walk around the course or have a practice on the green next to the homestead with the spare clubs. "
"If you have to stay in this area, you have very few choices, and this place is tolerable. The one bed we used was comfortable enough, and it was nice to have a refrigerator and laundry facilities inside the unit. It was also nice to see the platypus and kangaroos/wallabies at the nearby pond.
However, in other ways this was The House of No. No reply to our emailed questions two days in advance. No notice that the only restaurant for many miles would be closed on both of the two days we were there. No light at all in the master bathroom. Essentially no heat in the clothes dryer. No instructions for lights or heaters. No upgrading of the facility or furniture.
So decide for yourself. This won’t be your favorite place, but it will mostly do the needful."
"Don’t be put off by the rustic exterior and surrounds. The chalet interior is cosy, well-appointed and spacious with wood panelling on the walls and lovely matching blinds and curtains. The bed was comfortable with a handmade doona (bed spread). The bathroom was spotless and has been recently renovated. The chalets and studios are in a very convenient location - short walk to the local hotel which serves great meals and a short drive away from the visitor centre at Lake St Clair National Park. "
"Beautiful part of the state, the simplicity of the accommodation blended with the beautiful countryside. The sauna was a treat, and food at Maydena Eats was delicious. WiFi instructions were wrong (maybe outdated?) and shower floors and bedroom corners had been overlooked— fixable things. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
You can study the exhibits at Waddamana Power Station Museum, a museum with a story of its own, during your trip to Bothwell. While you're in the area, wander around the natural setting.
