Because of lack of guests, dinner on night of arrival very limited, lasagna and salad and crumble as dessert. All nicely cooked but served in an un-heated "Community Kitchen".
Granola, fruit, bread jams juice and coffee for breakfast, again served in a very cold room.
Our cabin-type accommodation had reversible air-con and was comfortable.
Staff was always pleasant and helpful.
What a fantastic night we had, listening to the history of the farm and surrounding area. Enjoying a lovely communal meal with the other guests,
Will remember for a very long time.
Highly recommended, thanks so much.
Unique experience as this farm is also the oldest golf course ( since 1822) in Australia. We were greeted by the host personally and sat around the fire chatting with a glass of wine from the bar. They offer a lovely home cooked meal, dessert and cheese platter also. Great place to stay, highly recommended.
This was an amazing stay. The manager,Michael was very friendly and made you feel so welcome.
We dined at the farm with ot
her guests and the meal was beautiful. Michael has a vast knowledge of the history of the farm and the area.
Our room was very comfortable and near a creek with lots of birdlife .
A unique place full of charm and history. Our cottage was well designed to retain its character with all the modern requirements. The meals were excellent and our host Michael was outstanding and entertaining.

I couldn’t rate the experience at Ratho farm more highly. We had a great stay, the room and property were amazing and the host was so nice. Highly recommend doing the dinner package, it’s a really unique experience and great value for what you get.
I felt I was part of the family! Our whole stay was amazing.
Greg certainly has a passion for the family property and I loved listening to him reading from the farm chronicles.
Dinner was fantastic and our stay in “the bakery” was extremely comfortable.

Peaceful and comfortable
A beautiful setting and a very relaxed environment. The dinner was very nice and sitting with other guests provided an enjoyable night of sharing travel stories. The rooms were clean and comfortable and as we had sunny weather we enjoyed being outside sitting near the creek running through the property.
Host was very friendly, we ate the meal (lamb & wallaby) - both were good
Pleased we did order because on a Monday evening there were no other dining options in Bothwell.
We arrived late because of flights into Hobart so missed 1st course, so suggestion would be to arrive by 7pm if you ordered the dinner
Little cottages are cute and comfy.
Well maintained historic site is both relaxing and interesting on its merits. Meals allow for some extrovert time, otherwise a very private spot. There were a couple of hiccups around dining, but they were one offs.
I liked the casual hospitality that was shown by the manager. A very friendly, personal yet professional welcome.
Guests were invited to join up and share a table for dinner. This also included an informative introduction to the history of Ratho Farm.
Beautiful country homestead.
An unique opportunity to stay in an historic property in the Bothwell area. This place has a comfortable feel with antique furnishings and modern ensuite. The golf setup was pleasing to those interested. Half the guests during my stay were golfing. There is the option for a communal evening meal in the modern events room which has a lovely view of the countryside. The food was good as was the conversation among the guests. There was a reading and historical backgrounding on the property. It is peaceful. Would stay again!
An amazing historical home farm stay in comfy converted farm buildings on a working farm and golf course. The rooms are cozy warm with a modern ensuite with heated floor. The staff were amazing and we had a fantastic night for New Year’s Eve. We learned the history of the area and the farm and the importance to Tasmania’s history. We fed chickens, sheep and the cows. We aren’t gold people but it looked nice for golfers as Australia’s oldest golf course. we wish we booked more than one night. Thank you for the hospitality.

The room was more than neglected. We booked Ratho Farm based on the 'exceptional' reviews online. This was not our experience!
On arrival, we navigated our way to reception, which wasn't obvious to be greeted by the managers were very new to the property, so much so, they didn't even know where our room was on the site.
They both escorted us into our bedroom to introduce us to the space, which felt slightly intrusive but told us parts of the outbuilding property ('Farriers') were off limits and showed us the communal space.
We opted to have the communal dinner on site as offers in the area were limited.
Once in the room we quickly became aware of its shortcomings. The communal spaces were checked and found to be substandard too.
I contacted the managers to make them aware of the issues. They offered to come down to our room and later offered an upgrade but my partner was tired after our journey and had started to take a nap, as he wasn't feeling well he didn't want to pack up again.
Visiting the homestead was an odd experience and more like being forced to have a history lesson you didn't ask for.
Our starter was non-exsistent really, a cheeseboard that was not ample for the number of guests invited and left in the middle of the room for stangers to pick at if they felt confident to.
My main meal was quite nice, my partner's was poor.
Subjected to a more colonial 'readings we skipped dessert.
Hospitality leaving non-existent, bill requested, poor communication.
A truly memorable experience where Ros and Richard make u feel most welcome. The golf course, rooms, history (golf museum), food and wine 1st rate. Do yourself a favour - must see,/do in Tassie!
