"Stayed in room 47, had to wait a good few minutes to check in.
Humming noise all night coming from somewhere.
Checked out and no mention if room was ok, just you owe £94, which everything was paid for and didnt owe anything. Henwas quite abrupt."
"Food was great we had a 2 course lunch the rooms are basic but comfortable enough. The young red head waitress chloe was apologetic about our wait but she was run off her feet but food was worth the wait. "
"Staff did the best they could and were extremely friendly but the overall stay was a big let down. We quite understood that our room would not be ready before the specified time but, as the website had mentioned a snack bar/deli we thought we'd spend some time there. Unfortunately it had closed some time ago. Although there was comfortable seating in the reception area it was freezing. We subsequently discovered that the hotel is only heated for an hour or two in the morning and again in the evening. We ate in the dining room the first evening and found the food was mediocre at best. The breakfast, however, was extremely good. It's a pity that the breakfast times were incorrect on the website meaning that our travel arrangements meant we had to skip it on our second day. Overall, very disappointing. The hotel seems to be catering for coach parties visiting for evening meals and not for the individual traveller."
"My wife and I had a decent stay at the Royal Marine, though it was a bit of a mixed bag.
The building looks magnificent, and although a little tired, has fantastic potential with some TLC. Our room was spotless, and we enjoyed paying extra for the sea view; watching the ferry terminal activity was actually quite relaxing.
However, the hotel is feeling a little run-down and in need of some modernising. We also found the breakfast disappointing, which let the experience down.
Whilst we enjoyed our visit to Dunoon, I doubt we'll be rushing back anytime soon."
"The room was clean and the hotel was full of charm. We had a lovely stay. The bed was not as soft as I prefer but we still slept well. The location is wonderful"
"Really enjoyed our stay at The Grey Gull Hotel. The hotel is a little dated in places, but our room was clean and spacious with a nicely renovated bathroom. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, including with our dog. Food was tasty and reasonably priced too. Great value for money and we’d stay again."
