"Staff were very helpful when i checked in here. I did get the impression they dont get too many overseas travellers but this did not stop them from being friendly and providing the service they would provide anyone staying there. This place also advertised a public bath available which i regretfully did not use as i was not there long enough. I was only here for one night on a stop but when i took a stroll around the neighbourhood i felt very safe and there were plenty of convenience stores....

"Lovely hotel, with excellent Japanese breakfast, and kind and helpful staff always willing to go out of their way to help bewildered foreign children. (They even let us check in early when they saw how exhausted my son was.) Rooms also very reasonably priced!"

"Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen. It was by far the best night's...

"Excellent facilities, friendly service, quiet atmosphere. It was the perfect accommodation with the right mix of camping sensibility and the comfort of the hotel. My friend and I spent a lot of time in the accommodation and auxiliary facilities, as it was such a wonderful accommodation to just fall asleep and leave."

"This is an absolute gem! Gorgeous rooms with top notch amenities. We used there complimentary bikes and bikes all around the small town. There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. The onsen is complimentary with your stay. Great service, such a treat! "
