The owner and staff were extremely friendly and helpful, with great local knowledge. The room was very clean and adequate. The breakfast was excellent, food was hot and served on a hot plate. A variety of breakfast food was available. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Excellent stay

Excellent stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed and little balcony. Bathroom small but contained bath with shower and toilet but sink was in the bedroom. Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked to order. Good location.

Very friendly welcome. Lovely lounge & bar area. The room was very good with excellent water pressure in the shower. Breakfast was the highlight, couldn’t fault it!

On arrival we were met by one of the owners, who was very friendly and informative. She continued to be so throughout our stay, giving us ideas of where to go and even offering us a lift into town. The other owner we only saw at breakfast but she was equally friendly and efficient. The breakfasts were delicious, filling and healthy ( fresh fruit salad with yoghurt)

Avon court was a great place to stay and Allison was a perfect host. It was very convenient to the Coast Path if you’re walking. The room was comfortable and perfectly clean. The breakfast was wonderful. This was a great place to stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Avon Court Lodge. Our host was friendly and helpful giving us a map of the area and recommending things to see and where to go for dinner. . We particularly enjoyed the scenic walk to the town. The room was and bathroom were spotlessly cleaned. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and was delicious. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Wonderful accommodation not to be missed

On arrival we were greeted by Alison one of the owners & she gave us an idea of our bearings this was fantastic and really began a wonderful relationship for the whole stay. The room was small but extremely functional for us both and really comfortable and clean, only a couple of minor issues with maybe updating a few things but everything worked and we were extremely happy for the duration of our stay The breakfast and facilities were excellent & we loved our mornings catching up with the owners, John the chef was superb and the food was exceptional Loved the location the people and the food and slept extremely well for the duration of our stay We would recommend highly this wonderful accommodation and the owners/ staff were a credit to the Hospitality community

Lovely place to stay

Lovely couple of days here. Room with balcony overlooking the town and it was quiet. Very friendly and informative hostess. Excellent breakfast. Loads of books available to read. Would stay again. Walkable into town and beaches.

Good Value, a bit dated, amazing staff & breakfast

To be honest, my heart sunk when we first arrived, the approach to the Lodge and general outside looks quite unkempt, and a bit scruffy. The reception, bar, breakfast and lounge areas all quite old fashioned and basic, also bedrooms where quite dated and everything in need of refurbishment. but saying that the staff and breakfasts really made up for it, the place seemed clean, and the bed was comfy, I enjoyed a lovely hot bath & nice fluffy white towels. all of the staff were absolutely amazing and couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was way and above expectations. so for the price we paid all in all it turned out okay.

From the moment we stepped through the door at Avoncourt Lodge we were greeted warmly and made very welcome. It was so close to beautiful coastal walks and a pleasant walk into the centre of Ilfracombe, beaches and harbour. We have stayed in many dog friendly hotels and Guest Houses and this was the best in that regard. It was clean, there were excellent tea/coffee making facilities in the room with delicious biscuits. The breakfast was superb and our dog was given a sausage each morning which he loved.

Wow wow what a gem

Just what a bed and breakfast used to be like. Greeted by the owner Room was comfy and clean, plenty of hot drinks and biscuits. Colourful duvet on our child’s bed. But breakfast was outstanding. Cereal. Fruit bowls, yoghurt, the juiciest OJ, amazing coffee and local jams, marmalades and honey. Our host wanted to feed us more thick seedy toast so we could try it all.
