"We booked the hotel because it had a restaurant and bar and close to Sydney when we got there we were informed that there was a special event and the restaurant was closed as also was the bar we were told they could not get us any type of dinner till 730 which was extremely disappointing so we had to drive in and find a restaurant to go to after a very long day driving so it was a great disappointment The room itself was excellent. The staff were good, but we’re so busy. They weren’t very helpful and helping us find a place to eat so we use ChatGPT to find the yacht club that was shortly down the road and would highly recommended to anybody that ever stayed at that hotel."

"Bras d'Or Lakes Inn was a wonderful place to stay. We were there for a week (Sep 2026) and were very impressed by the friendly staff who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The restaurant served excellent dinners and some nights we also had live music - very enjoyable! It was a good location from which to explore various parts of Cape Breton Island. We highly recommend Bras d'Or Lakes Inn!"

"Remember this is a motel, not a 4/5 star hotel but having said that, it was very clean, tidy, well maintained, with great helpful staff, in a fantastic location and with a superb restaurant serving both breakfast and evening meals, all at great prices, with quality food/service and plentiful.
