Strathcona Hotel

"Ok, I work in the hotel/hospitality business, so I am always looking for what goes right or wrong. Was only there for 3 nights, so I refused cleaning services, but my room #519 was well cleaned and made up upon arrival at 3:30pm after a ferry ride from Vancouver. The room is smaller than US standards, but quite comfortable with a queen bed with limited space around the bed as I set up the luggage rack to hold my mid-size suitcase. I am in my 60's and use a cane but had no issues. Only room suggestion to exchange the shower heads to ones that have a cable or wand so a user can aim the water stream. The staff were attentive and outstanding as I recall Candace and Jack were most helpful with directions, information, and recommendations. Kudos to them! Jack had previous overnight work experience and gave good info on the availability of cabs as my friend and I had an early morning departure flight. I give this hotel a high recommendation as it is centrally located in the heart of the city and walkable to nearby food and bar venues. The adjoing bar "Sticky Wickett" was great for watching NBA and Hockey playoff games and decent food though one can't charge to one's room. If I ever return, I would gladly revisit The Stathcon hotel again. Robert E. San Antonio, Texas"

"Great hotel! Good location in the downtown core. The room was very spacious, clean, and tidy. The staff were always super helpful and polite. Parking for guests is off-site but its secure and safe."

Oak Bay Beach Hotel

"I booked this hotel wanting a nice weekend away. It was a great room, and the staff were amazing, especially our waitress in the Snug and at the front desk. Some things, since it is a little more pricey hotel, I held it to higher standards. When I got to the room I found fingernail clippings on my bed and pet hair... So that definitely took some points off my rating."

The Oswego Hotel

"Honestly I wish I could rate it higher but a couple things were a little disappointing. First they were having issues with the elevators which I understand probably was just bad luck, that being said it was frustrating waiting up to 10 minutes each way to get outside unfortunately we were on the 8th floor so stairs with all our luggage wasn’t really an opiton. Secondly it looked as though the flooring in the room was recently changes which was nice but in the bathroom and shower remnants of old caulking and dirty grout remained. The last thing was that the hotel restaurant and bar closes very early we got there at 915 and were told it closed 15 minutes ago on a Saturday night! I guess it just goes with the unique boutique nature of the hotel. I would love to give this hotel another shot next time we’re back in town if the price is right as I feel like I just caught them at a bad time. all the staff was friendly and helpful and the location is fantastic."

"Hotel was clean and offered good breakfast however there is major construction at the front of the property which we were not made aware of so obstructed the water view. Rooms on split levels were also very hot for sleeping so not good."

"The rooms are small but youll only use those for sleeping anyhow. The location is amazing! The bed was so comfortable. We went on a haunted house bike tour which picked us up and dropped us off right at the front door! Amazing city!"
